I just had a "DUH" moment. I never did check the fuse, no idea why I forgot this. It was blown. Just for curiosity I put the old switch back in and it did NOT work. My guess is the switch shorted out when it went and took the fuse with it. My bad, I guess I just had a brain cramp.by Doug427 - Main Forum
My 2005 987 Boxster suddenly developed this problem. The rear trunk won't open. It doesn't even make a noise. Nothing. I replaced the door sill mounted switch with a new one, but no luck. It's still totally dead. Two questions I have are: -Is there a mechanical way to open the rear trunk? I would think that Porsche would have to install some sort of mechanical opening system in case the electricby Doug427 - Main Forum
Long story short, the engine has intermix due to a cracked cylinder head. Overall, this is a nice car. Tight suspension, 6 speed manual trans. Ben's short shifter. Black over Savannah Beige leather. Android head unit. Top in good shape, rear window is cloudy and should be replaced. Heated power electric seats. Bose system. Four stalk column with trip computer. Approx. 106K miles. I have a 2002 Boxster S that I enjoy very much. I now have an opportunity to purchase a 2005 Boxster S 6-speed car that was in standing (fresh) water up to the bottom of the doors. It's an incredibly beautiful car, much nicer than my 2002. It runs like a top, but does have two issues. The drivers door window no longer operates, and the top no longer operates. All (and especially Pedro - Long story short, my 2002 Boxster S has an intermix issue. No water at all in the oil, and it runs really, REALLY well. However, I have plenty of oil in the water. I changed the oil cooler as a cheap easy stab at solving the issue, and no change. It's still happening. I'm losing about a quart of oil every 500 miles into the water. Of course I can always buy a used engby Doug427 - Main Forum
You were right, Pedro. I opened it up and it was previously wet and now corroded. I sent it to Colorado for repair and get it back shortly. Hopefully it works well.by Doug427 - Main Forum
It's on the list of things to do. I get the immobilizer back in a couple of days then it's full speed ahead.by Doug427 - Main Forum
It seems to have an equal sort of drag on it in all directions.by Doug427 - Main Forum
Right now I'm unfortunately dealing with an immobilizer that apparently got wet and is toast. Once I get through that debacle, the shifter is next on the list. For you guys who are far more familiar with the car than I am, please tell me if my understanding of how the shifter works is correct and if my thinking is correct. It seems in watching the youTube videos on shift linkage adjustment that tby Doug427 - Main Forum
I don't know how to post pics here. I think you'd find them to be self explanatory. The immobilizer circuit board definitely got wet and has corrosion on it. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can anything be done with this? Can it be saved? What are my options now?by Doug427 - Main Forum
I didn't know about that, but thanks to you I do now. Thanks!by Doug427 - Main Forum
Thanks. I checked that, battery and alternator read good.by Doug427 - Main Forum
My shifter feels like it's being pushed through a pot of tar. It's stiff in a thick hydraulic sort of feel. Even in the neutral gate, when I move it side to side, it's not free and easy, there is a drag on it. I ordered the shifter adjustment tool, the green plastic clip. Other than adjusting the cables what else should I look for? Do I need to lube the cables and shifter while I'm inside the booby Doug427 - Main Forum
Second of three questions I have guys. My car needs a air/oil separator. It came with a new one in the box in the trunk. It's made by a company called Uro. I have read a few guys on the net say that when replacing the air oil separator you have to use the Porsche unit, that the aftermarket units like the Uro are no good. Anyone have any first hand info on that? Pedro? It looks like a pain in theby Doug427 - Main Forum
Hello, Pedro and everyone, This is my first post on this forum board. Thanks for the opportunity. I just bought my first Porsche. It's a 2002 Boxster S. I got it very inexpensively, however while it looks great it does need just a bit of TLC. The biggest issue is one that I had originally thought would be a 30 minute diagnosis and $5 fix. The power windows are up and they don't move. The windowsby Doug427 - Main Forum
