LOL...we are talking about Porsches. When is price ever a part of the calculus? Those concerned with cost would have bought a Corvette :-)by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
No smoke at startup, silent running, and instant torque...all the joys of a Boxster AND fewer parts to maintain.BONUS!!!by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Some good pics of the corrosion in the writeup...pretty sure from someone running into the bumperette, but not sure why it would disintegrate like that.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Follow this link to see how to move the plate that is blocking the release lever: This solution is moving the plate which is blocking the lever with a thin screwdriver, thus enabling the lever to be pulled...it will ALWAYS work once you understand it. It does not depend on the cable or charging the battery. However, it is tricky and you kind of have to do it by feel...so it can be frustratingby RainyDayGarage - Main Forum

It might be rare for Porsches, but Internet searches does show occurrences of it happening in various cars. Anyway, not even sure how they would go about finding the cause... clearly no sensors were crushed.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
While the car was at the mechanics, the passenger airbag deployed (there was video of the incident from the exterior of the car) while the car was being backed into a spot...it clearly didn't hit anything and was going very slowly. So it was definitely not the fault of the driver or any external bumping of any kind. Anyone every experience something similar?by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Someday... a Boxster :-)by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
DynaPlug Pro: The first time was using it on a truck tire... needed 2 plugs to fill the hole, but it held from Boston to Vermont and has been four years going. The second time... well, it is on the front passenger side tire of the Boxster and it is looking pretty good so far.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
The one in my 2000 when bad once... now I have a spare, but have not needed it since.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
The same argument was probably made for horses vs cars :-)by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
I'm hoping my 2000 w/180K miles will last until it is out :-)by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
There is a slight rubbing of the emergency brake with the rear rotor now when I make a right hand turn... is there a way to fix/adjust that? The garage said to give it about 100 miles to see what happens, but that seems kind of weird...by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Brought the Boxster in for a rotor replacement and a retaining bolt broke. I did the job myself four year ago and broke one of the four bolts... it was a pain so this time I thought i would let the "pros" do it...and they broke a bolt. So I ask... does this happen a lot?by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Fairly simple project, but maybe this writeup will make it even easier :-)by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Mine somehow got "sticky-fingered" at some point...I only noticed it today when I was thinking about putting on the hardtop. While I probably won't really miss it, I thought I would ask ;-) Let me know what you want for it and how much to ship to Boston.by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
We know many would NEVER consider letting strangers drive their Porsches, but...by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum

You didn't say if it was cranking and not catching, but from your diagnostics, it suggest no cranking...so something electrical and not air or fuel related?by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
It wasn't the front airbag, but the one on the passenger door... now it made more sense why they were looking to replace that panel. I also saw the video of the "event"... clearly did not hit anything. The tech was backing the car into a spot...couldn't really tell if the car was moving when it happen as the top was up. But you could see the back plastic window "puff" and the tech getting outby RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Just got off the phone with the mechanic… apparently the airbag going off also took out the inside panel of the passenger door. They are looking for the replacement part for that as well as figuring things out with the insurance company. Kind of a bummer of a series of events from failing a simple annual inspection!by RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
Am assuming you are referring to the Airbag warning light... I don't know. I never paid attention to it on startup, but I don't have the car at present at it is with the mechanic. They are waiting to hear from their insurance people. Internet search brought up only one other Porsche incident where startup caused the passenger air bag to deploy and the second startup caused the driver side to deplby RainyDayGarage - Main Forum
