There is a very active PCA region in the Asheville area. We did a breakfast meet up this past Saturday at the Pisgah Inn - at Mt. Pisgah, the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was a beautiful day to drive the parkway and we had 44 people show up for breakfast.by jg wnc - Main Forum
I think I saw there was some kind of recall for Porsches with the tan dashboard. I believe the jist of the issue is that reflections from the dashboard made it hard to see out of the windshield. IIRC, the remedy was to provide each owner with a pair of polarized sunglasses. You may want to check with a dealer on this. And this is not an April Fool’s joke one day late (though it sure soundsby jg wnc - Main Forum
Beautiful car! I trust that you will enjoy it for a very long time. I could not be happier with my 2016 GTS. It says it has sport suspension - have you verified that it has the X73 option? If so, you will be impressed. You have yourself an awesome drivers’ car! Some suggestions once you get the car: Install Xpel film on rocker panels, around engine air intakes and lower rear bumpers. Great to see you guys last month. Really glad that you found a new home for the Boxster. It was very well maintained and nicely hacked! Look forward to seeing you in May. What is the cruising range on the Cayenne diesel? It is pretty crazy as I remember. One of the guys in the Appalachian Region PCA picked up a Cayenne diesel recently too.by jg wnc - Main Forum
My 2016 981 GTS 6 Speed Manual with sport suspension is a joy to own and drive. It does everything exceptionally well. Personally, I am hanging on to this car for a very very long time. Might the last of the flat 6’s in the Boxster/Cayman (except for the Spyder and GT4) become as desirable as the 993? Time will tell. There is no substitute!by jg wnc - Main Forum
That is also the access point to change the serpentine belt. I would presume that he went in from that point as you have to remove the SERP belt to remove the alternator. Yeah, I have changed the alternator on a 2002 986 S, and it was tricky getting it out and back in.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro and best wished to you and your family!by jg wnc - Main Forum
It is very much up to what you want. It really chaps me when guys talk about the 911 being an upgrade. Yes is the 911 more powerful, and it is also heavier and more expensive. The Boxster is lighter and more nimble with the engine in the best possible location in the middle of the car. In that sense, you could say the the 911 is actually a downgrade to a Boxster. ATE has always worked just fine for me - either blue or gold. Both on track and off. Don’t see a reason to change.by jg wnc - Main Forum
2 on the tach and 1 on the speedometer. Hmmmmm.......... He should have good lines, as a Porsche factory driver he has definitely done a few laps around the ‘Ring.by jg wnc - Main Forum
1. This certainly drops my interest in ever doing a lap at the ‘Ring with all the traffic 2. The Lambo driver is an ass. He should have moved over. Oh well, he owns a Lambo! 3. I like the way the cars being passed signaled where they were going - mostly keeping right. Seems like a good idea and would be useful at DE’s as it allows drivers to keep hands on the wheel.by jg wnc - Main Forum
You may also want to contact the folks at TPC. They are the ones providing the supercharges for the Boxster engines. They may have some ideas.by jg wnc - Main Forum
We completed our move to the Western NC mountains a week ago. Since we have been up here full time, it has rained pretty much every day. Some days more than others. It does not look like the pattern is going to change any time soon. Expect sun in the mornings and periods of rain and thunderstorms on some afternoons. In other words, typical BRBS weather. There is a tropical storm brewing inby jg wnc - Main Forum
Hi Rev! Well, that’s different. At least it is a rag top!by jg wnc - Main Forum
Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks. Blue Ridge Parkway is only 10 minutes from the new home. Lots of interesting options for getting to BRBS from I-40/221/2226A to running all the way on the BRP. Decisions.........by jg wnc - Main Forum
As part of moving to Western North Carolina and getting plugged in to the local PCA region, I participated in Luft, Wasser & Brevard this past Saturday. It was a combination tour and car show with 100 Porsches displayed on Main Street in Brevard, There were a few 356’s up to a GT3 RS and everything in between including a couple Macan’s, Cayenne’s and even a Panamera. There were plentby jg wnc - Main Forum
I'm not sure what the percentage allocation between politics and performance is to be successful in GTLM, but for sure the politics portion is significant. Porsche just has not been as successful as say Ford in the political Balance-of-Performance decisions by IMSA. It is interesting, now that the series is thriving, they don't need Porsche as much and they don't favor them with BoP decisions.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Glad you are seeing better! Great, ain't it! BTW, 48 House at Sebring might be the biggest PCA club race, but at 300 cars is much smaller than SCCA Runoffs this past year at IMS with over 1000 entries.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Enjoy the race Mike. Hate to miss this year. See you at BRBS!by jg wnc - Main Forum
Had both of mine done this year. First one (left) also has a toric lens. The right eye was done 3 months after the first. By December (6 months and 3 months post) my vision was 20/30 and 2/40. The doc was not satisfied and performed Yag laser to remove secondary cataracts on each eye (procedures were performed 2 weeks apart). Vision is now 20/25 in both eyes. It might be a bit optimisticby jg wnc - Main Forum
Kevin told me that you were meeting up with Macsac, but we already had dinner plans for Saturday evening. Sorry that we couldn't join. Who else was there?by jg wnc - Main Forum
and have not missed the BS factor at work one bit. I picked up a new 2016 Boxster GTS in November 2015, mostly in anticipation of the end of the flat 6 in the Boxster, and to a lesser degree my time closing in on retirement. The car is very analog with a 6 speed manual and sport suspension. I gotta tell ya, the 981 GTS is an awesome platform. I took a look at AutoTrader in mid 2016 and thereby jg wnc - Main Forum
and with the Boxster Spyder as a cousin, it makes sense that it would have a NA flat 6. I am just wondering if the rumored GT4RS with a 4.0 flat 6 will see the light of day.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Keep us posted. Doubt that I will be able to bring you a lei.by jg wnc - Main Forum
What a wonderfully low key guy. He would just hang in the background at BRBS. The world was a better place when he was around. Very respected and very missed.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Terrific tires. Had them on my 02S. Very quiet and great performance. Michelin is replacing them with the PIlot Sport 4, I believe. IIRC, i ran 32/34 for air pressure.by jg wnc - Main Forum
