Thanks for the help guys. I cleaned it up and put a little grease on the axle and I was able to get it in. Should have it back on the road tomorrow. This project took me about twice as long as I thought it would. The passenger side should take about a third as much time. Kermitby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
Thanks Marc. I just got home from work and hit it a few more times and got it out. I used a harder piece of scrap wood (Red Oak) and had sprayed it with WD40 this morning. Was about to take the whole wheel carrier out with the axle intact but figured I'd try hitting it a few more times. I'll do the boots and see how the installation goes. Any advice on installing the axle again? I'm hopingby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
I'm in the process of doing the CV boots and this is the latest thing to hold up my progress. So, far I've disconnected the axle nut, inner CV joint bolts from the differential, and removed the ball joints from the wheel carrier (that was difficult enough). Now, I can't get the axle out of the hub. I've banged on it with a hammer and a block of wood and it's budged may a couple millimeters, buby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
I finally got the nerve up to get under the car and replace my front motor mount. While I was under there, I also replaced the spark plugs and did an oil change. It's like driving a whole new car. The vibration at 3000 RPMs is 99% gone. I think it's barely perceptible whereas before I almost didn't want to drive it. I think I drove for 6 months avoiding 3000 RPMs as much as possible. Interesting. I've been researching this the past couple of days. Bill, on another board, mentioned this but I was under the impression the exhaust system would get in the way. I'm thinking of doing the boots as a DIY once I get motivated. I've been driving with at least one of my outer boots torn for about a year. That was the last time a dealer looked it. They had a long list of repairs Iby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
I assumed it was the regulator that went bad in mine and it turned out it was the motor. The motor would only turn forwards. You may as well open up the door panel and diagnose it or you may end up with a spare regulator like I did. Kermitby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum

Hey Pedro, In your DIY instructions for the engine mount, you say you can use ramps instead of a lift or 4 stands. Do you have any recommendations for a good set of ramps? My 3000 RPM vibration is getting worse so I'd like to attempt this DIY myself. Thanks, Kermit 2000 S 118,000 milesby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
I've only put it on one machine and I'm tempted to go back. Had lots of issues with pages not rendering. Emails from Golf Galaxy crash the browser when previewed in Yahoo! mail. Have had multiple other crashes. Haven't noticed a problem with printing or Acrobat though.by Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
The symptoms for mine are the passenger window won't go up or down with the switches. It doesn't auto drop when the door handle (or top release) is opened. When I press the raise or lower switch, I can here a click in the door but nothing happens. The driver's window works correctly. The only other thing is the battery went dead over the winter (forgot the maintainer). I charged the batteryby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
I just took my '00 out of storage and I think the same thing happened. A quick google search will bring up a couple of good write ups. I believe Pelican Parts had one that I found. I didn't bookmark them since they were easy to find. Kermit Pelican Parts Technical Articleby Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
Great write up, Pedro. I'm about to replace mine and was looking for good instructions.by Kermit In Cleveland - Main Forum
