In fairness, now that I am thinking about it.....the passenger side window regulator was part of the $1600 repair package.....so the $500 battery now sounds like a bargain!by Sandbox - Main Forum
Good to know nothing was particularly wrong with my 987 2006S when I took it for an oil change @ 70,000 miles to my dealer this past week. $1600 later, I had clean oil, a new battery and some replaced elastic bands that secure the ragtop within the edge channel. I am just thankful nothing was actually really needing attention or I'd be second mortgaging the house!! Just kidding....but I am alwby Sandbox - Main Forum
Have been running 18" Michelin Pilot Alpin PA-2's on my 987S for two winters and they are quite impressive. Classified "Performance Winter", they feel more like summe tires to me. Have not had tons of snow here in MD but they did the job in last week's snow/ice blast. Have Blizzaks on wife's Lexus IS350 and they are wonderful in snow/ice (amazing, in fact) but feel much "mushier". All in all..by Sandbox - Main Forum
Guenter.....Thanks very much! Best photos I have seen to date....and while I like it alot, my 987S is still looking pretty good to me!!!!! Bobby Sandbox - Main Forum
Thanks so much for the reply! Boxster top is OK for now but I guessing they would do a MB560SL as well? Bobby Sandbox - Main Forum
Hi....just saw your MD plate (I'm in Columbia, MD) and wondered who supplied the top and installed it? Happy with their work? Thanks/Bobby Sandbox - Main Forum
The Boxster is fantastic in snow and ice if properly equipped with winter tires. Have driven 3 Porsches in winter for 22 years without a problem.....and....driving reasonably for the conditions which many folks elect not to consider as they speed along like the roads are dry!!!! Have driven 2 former Porsches to 200,000 miles...each w/sets of Blizzaks and never had anything but fun. Great winter cars.... Now have new Michelin PA2's (performance winter tires on 18's) on '06 987S and had great results this winter in MD/DC area but we have had much less snow than last year (72")......but so far they are great riding tires with a good grip on light (3-4") snow and ice.....Bby Sandbox - Main Forum
Have a look on the Tirerack.com site.....PA2's are sized for our cars and Porsche approved tires. PA3's are probably on Michelin wesite but not available in my 18" size....don't know your tire size so you may find otherwise...Bobby Sandbox - Main Forum
Might want to consider the Michelin Pilot Alpin PS2 as well. Just had them put on about 3 weeks ago and experienced some snow here in MD...very impressive handling but they of course have great new tread. Ride, I find, is quite acceptable with much better than expected cornering. I was reluctant to purchase the DWS Conti from Tirerack as the reviews indicated softer than usual sidewall prone tby Sandbox - Main Forum
Live in Columbia MD outside of DC and had no trouble yesterday with new PA2's on 2006 987S.....performance winter tires and really quite good to my mind. They are still rather new so may have to report back if we have another winter like '09/'10 but so far, quite amazing.....comfortable, corner well, handle snow/slush with ease.
