Hi Guys, I do appreciate all the comments and will address when given a chance. I travel a bunch and have not had time to look at or have looked at yet. Once a verdict it reached I will post the results. Thanks again. I know that we can count on forum for good advice! G.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Got home last night and my Son "remembered" that a month ago while him Mother and I were in Mexico for a week, that he was wanting to take the Porsche for a spin. So, he put the charger on it Full blast, not slow charge, then forgot it. Left in on for near a week..... He said once he remembered, he pulled the charger off and the battery was "very hot" and the car would not start.... This may beby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Grant, thanks for the information. I am stuck at the office today, but my son and Dad drove over to my place and installed yet another new battery. My Dad then called me and said he had no more than connected the positive side of the battery and a "blue-ish" smoke started coming from the "right" air intake. (out of the engine compartment). He disconnected the battery and the smoke stopped, buby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Good Folks, About a year ago, I got a company car. I had been driving my 2002 Base Boxster every day until then. Car was running fine when I parked it. The time has flown and I never even started it since. The need came up last night so I put the charger on the battery, nothing after a long while. Pulled the battery out, went to parts store and purchased a new battery. Well by this time it wasby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Good Day to all that will read this! This weekend, I charged the 2002 base Box up and got in it and it started right up. Here is the catch.....Was driving around and went to signal for a left turn, POP, now the signal stock stays in the left turn signal position unless I move it, and it wont stay in the right turn position unless I hold it. Any ideas of what kind of trouble $$$$ I am in for thiby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Pedro, About how much labor (Time) at a Indy would one be looking at for the install? I appreciate your research, trial, R &D and promotion of all of your products and look forward to the Peach of Mind I feel this can afford me. Thanks.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Very Nice! My Dad bought a brand new AH 3000 in 1965 (I think) and then ended up selling it after my Brother and I showed up because he and my Mother could not afford the $100 a month payment. A nice example now can bring pretty big $$$$ for sure!by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
If memory serves, These were powered by 928S4 v-8.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
2002 Base approx. 74K No issues. May replace upon clutch job, but have extended Warranty on car....so, not sure if I will bother or not.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
It is like riding in a Covered Wagon! Hot or Cold, but admit-ably, more so when it is Cold. I will post when there is a diagnosis. "if ever there is one".... Thanks again Gents.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
it just has a very Harsh ride....both front and rear of the car. The "sound" that I mention is more like you would think of driving a car with NO suspension at all. everything is Jared when going over even the smallest bumps, such as manhole covers, smaller speed bumps, gravel, potholes etc.... The mounting plates and the alignment suggestions both make sense to me and I will begin having thoseby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
The mount was replaced only a few K ago. It seemed to be nice for only a short time after, then Bam, roughness abounds.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Thanks Marc, I must say, no bouncing, just a thud or BAM! kind-of going over any pot holes, small sharper bumps are the worst. Just feels like my suspension is gone. Even a co-worker of mine rode in the car with me the other day (had never been in a P-Car before) and she made a statement something to "wow, I thought a Porsche would ride smoother"....Thats when I decided I had better start lookby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Hi Good folks of Pedro's Board! A quick question. I have a 2002 Base 986 that has been a fantastic car. has about 83K on it now and all I have had to do to it other than normal stuff is the ignition switch, AOS, and a motor mount. The car up until recently has been very smooth, quite over bumps etc....but seemingly all of a sudden it just feels like any bump at all, small or large, makes the caby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
I have had some Extended Warranty Experiences. I purchased, Through my Credit Union two "Route 66" policies on both my 2002 Boxster base (major component only) and on my Son's 2006 BMW 325i (Bumper to bumper)... I have not used it for my Boxster, but the one for my BMW has paid off like an ATM when needed. (two pretty high cost repairs, paid all but the tax) I am very happy he has the protectioby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
My 2002 Base at 75k needed a Motor Mount and a AOS (check engine light, rough idle, smoke on start-up)....$950.00 out the door at my local Porsche dealer. All was fine, two days later Check Engine light back on!!! Any thoughts?by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Love it! My son has been a fan of Porsche from the time he was old enough to have an opinion! (about 8) He is now 18 and has been driving a boxster, M-3 convert, and a C-240 benzo all blacked-out on "Rims"... He has the German car bug, to say the least! Happy New Year!by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Anyone ever look into what the wing on our cars do. How much down force does it create? Does it apply force to only the rear of the car or the whole car? Just curious. It does seem pretty small to have much impact??by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
to have a dealership install a new mount? Anyone know about??by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
For an oil change!!! Is that out of line? I have paid Jiffy Lube over the years anywhere from 90 to 120 depending on where I am. Seems like too much to me.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Under pretty much normal driving conditions?? Some spirited, but never "dropping" the clutch etc... I have a 2002 Base, with 58K on it now. It does not slip, but the release seems to have changed over time. Shifts are not quite as precise as the once were. G.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
If you find out, will you let me know as well? I had the same thing happen to me.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Two days before the storm hit Joplin, at the Hospital (working). It is unbelievable to see it now on T.V. after just being there. I have many friends and co-workers in Joplin and so far...all are safe. Many have lost homes, property, cars etc...can be replaced. So sad for the ones not as fortunate. PS: I live in Springfield. About 70 miles east of Joplin.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
Not expensive, but when they go, there gone and your done. Easy install on the side of the road. Only fault I know of on the 93 series...Keep the oil changed though. There has been sludge problems reported with poorly serviced cars...by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
I have a BMW M3 as my "Other Car" it is a 1999, been with me a while now, but has proven to be a fantastic bargin for what you get. My 17 year old son has a Mercedes C240. Nice ride and so far has also proven to be a good, reliable, ride. I sold my 1999 Saab 93 Convert with over 125,000 miles on it. Never once let me down. You can get into those type of Saab for very little $$$$, they are safe,by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
My wife and I were tooling around the other day in my 2002 with the windows down, top down and all of a sudden, the passenger window when up, all on its own. All the way-up! Gby gregsterInMO - Main Forum
I lost my driver's side insert just this weekend. I was going about 45-50mph when I heard a noise, could not figure out what the heck it was, that is until about 45 miles later when I pulled over and noticed it was gone. No prior symptom to suggest this would happen...Now I need to find a used one??? Good luck with yours, my screen is also symptom free at any speed that I can tell. G.by gregsterInMO - Main Forum
