I read a group of people met at the former Competition Motors in L.A. where he bought the car and drove the same route to the crash site on that day. That would have been a cool thing to do especially in a Porsche. I'm a James Dean fan maybe because I was born in 1955, man I'm getting old!by joecal - Main Forum
That is a nice looking car and it sounds like they're pretty fast. I never heard of them but I like it, I read 2014 was the last year of production. I bet they're expensive, I'll have to check that out. They are expensive, I read around 100K new. This one was the cheapest I found and it's sold.by joecal - Main Forum
Thanks for the advice Boxsterra, it's a 99 Boxster, sorry I should have mentioned that, I found the problem, it was my fault. I replaced the drivers side sun visor because it was floppy with a good used one. I pinched the wiring behind it when installing the used one and that created a short to the microswitch for the convertible top. I'm glad I thought to finally look there because the wiring ruby joecal - Main Forum
Hi Guys, I'm still having a problem with the C3 fuse blowing but I traced it to the top micro switch. It doesn't blow the fuse until it gets to the second click on the micro switch and then it blows the fuse. I know it must be a short somewhere, I checked the connector but it seems okay but who knows. Any troubleshooting ideas are appreciated or where to start looking. Thanks, Joeby joecal - Main Forum
Quotedb997S Power is like cowbell, you can never have too much of either.by joecal - Main Forum
That is crazy when you think about it. I've only owned my first Porsche for a few weeks and it's been a costly experience so far. Mine's a 99 and the quality of the interior doesn't seem any better than your average car, in fact maybe worse with plastic things breaking or broke. Mine has floppy sun visors which is common with these cars that won't stay in place. I have a 63 Chrysler and the sun vby joecal - Main Forum
I'm a newbie here but maybe your ECU went bad, maybe that should be tested? Have you checked your fuses for the top maybe one has blown.by joecal - Main Forum
That's strange then, I'm not sure what cured it then but I'm just glad they're working and hopefully stay that way!by joecal - Main Forum
Hello again, just an up date on the windows. They are both working, it must have been the micro-switch if there is one back there for the convertible top. I raised and lowered the top and now both windows are working. I don't now why but I locked the car with the key and kept the key turned clockwise and pressed and held the button on the key fob and the passenger window went up. I was hopeful tby joecal - Main Forum
Thanks to both of you, the floor is dry, I had the immobilizer repaired, it did look like there was water damage sometime in the past, I hope I didn't damage it. The car was sitting outside for a few months before I bought it so some water probably did get under the seat and possibly in the doors. I did notice the rear drains were clogged and I cleaned those out. I guess I will have to pull off tby joecal - Main Forum
Thanks for the suggestion, both fuses are good and I tried turning the key counter-clockwise and holding it and nothing happened. I pulled the door handle out a little like I was going to open the door and the window moves a little on the drivers side, but now I don't hear the micro-switch working and the windows not moving. I kept pulling and releasing the handle on the passenger side door and tby joecal - Main Forum
Thanks for the replies, sorry I haven't been on here in a few days. The fuse isn't blowing anymore after I installed a 30 amp fuse in the C3 socket and then replaced it with the correct 15 amp fuse. I know that was a dumb thing to do but I read a post where someone said a Porsche tech did that to his car and it solved the problem, his car was having the same issue as mine. The only problem now isby joecal - Main Forum
The car is still under warranty, I would take it into the dealer and have them check it out. It could be something as minor as a dirty air filter.by joecal - Main Forum
I'm having a problem with the C3 fuse that keeps blowing. I replaced the CLU box and am still having the same problem, when the box is unplugged the fuse doesn't blow. I'm guessing there's a short somewhere but I have no idea where, I guess it could be one of the micro switches. Any help is appreciated, this is really frustrating. I read on another forum someone having the same problem but he neby joecal - Main Forum
