Changing the starter did the trick. Incidentally it no longer gives me a pause when starting. Since I got it six years ago, it always paused a bit before starting. I wonder if that is related.by Skyler - Main Forum
Yes, it is very strange. We shall see if that fixes it. Oh, I did jump the interlock switch.by Skyler - Main Forum
We'll see if that fixes it, but the shop says it's the starter.by Skyler - Main Forum
I'm pretty sure you have that backwards. And if you don't then oops.by Skyler - Main Forum
The interlock switch tests good on the fluke. It does not crank. Solenoid does not click. Battery is good. I think. MIght be worth checking. The fuel pump relay has not been checked yet. This video is pretty interesting. By his logic, it's either the relay or a starter, or the ECU. I'll get back at it tomorrow. I'll charge up the battery just in case. It's only 6 months old, butby Skyler - Main Forum
My car failed to start (2007 987) and the dash tells me to depress the clutch pedal. No sweat, I know that problem, just jumper the idiot switch. Except it doesn't work. I jumpered it but the car still doesn't start. Anyone have any other ideas? Could it be a fuse somewhere?by Skyler - Main Forum
The shop says it's a microswitch, confirming what I suspected was wrong. Now I don't feel so bad. And the parking light was because the blinker was on. I forgot about that.by Skyler - Main Forum
And now I had to disconnect the battery because the parking lights won’t go off. WTF? How did that happen?by Skyler - Main Forum
I finally got the bat wing in the mail and put it on (it took two weeks because of various errors, on my part). I lined everything up as best I could, and it goes up and down okay. However, it seems to get stuck and travels too far no matter how I adjust it. I'm giving up and bringing it to the local shop before I break something. I think they won't like getting a partially put together car cby Skyler - Main Forum
Yeah, those were fun days. Thanks to Chuck. I went to law school and twice to war and got married and had a kid and nothing is even remotely the same anymore! Except I have my second boxster. This one is every bit better than my 99, but the magic isn’t there the same way.by Skyler - Main Forum
Not quite, but she is in 7th grade. Thanks for remembering. My life took a big turn sometime around 2004, and she came along in 2007.by Skyler - Main Forum
The bat wing on the driver's side has been worn out. There is a key, of sorts, on the gearbox that aligns the bat wing to the gearbox. But the problem is that my bat wing has a rabbet carved very deep and for about 60 degrees, when it starts to taper up, so that the key isn't able to lock onto the gearbox. Maybe it's possible that this is the culprit. It doesn't explain why the rest of theby Skyler - Main Forum
Because I don't see anything moon shaped in the gear box. I have a picture but I don't see how to post a picture on this forum. Surely there is a way to do it, but I can't see it. Your theory about the cables is interesting. It might explain what's happening.by Skyler - Main Forum
I think I have a bigger problem. I got new plastic rod ends in the mail today. I aligned the two gear boxes as exactly as I could using calipers. And then I tested it before putting on the new rod end, trying to put the top in a slightly different position. The driver side gear box didn't turn, and the passenger side did. I was worried that the worm gear inside the drivers side gear box hby Skyler - Main Forum
Yeah, those are like a fuse, and that's why I'm worried about having put metal replacement gears inside the gear box.by Skyler - Main Forum
Thanks Maurice. I'm pretty sure I have the two sides in synch. When I operated the top the first time after synching them and reassembling, the plastic ball socket on the passenger side split pretty dramatically as it got close to opening all the way. My guess is that I need to make the arm shorter. Is there a way to measure what length to make it without breaking a lot of those sockets?by Skyler - Main Forum
It's been a long time since I've been here. I hope someone can help me. I've finally replaced my '99 Zenith Blue with an '07 Black a couple years back. About a month ago the top went kerplunk. I did some research on line and realized that the plastic gear in the driver's side convertible gear box was broken. Sure enough, it was easy to replace. But now I have a problem. I am clueless on hby Skyler - Main Forum
Or at least I couldn't get it to do that. It first tricked me by saying it was reading pressure on the tires, but all four tires read 5.38 BAR. I realized that couldn't be true because the fronts are less than the rears, that that many BAR comes out to about 78psi. I tested that by dropping the pressure on one tire to about 15psi and I never saw a change on the durametric reading. To be fair,by Skyler - Main Forum
Yes, I installed a Kenwood DDX9902S (that model number is from memory, so a grain of salt is required) in my 99 boxster, and when that car died, I temporarily moved it to my miata. Now I have a 2007 boxster and I moved it there. I got it and the adapter for the 2007 from cai-store. Rod is extremely helpful to do-it-yourselfers. My wife has claimed the parking spot left available in our garage (after all my tools) because she doesn't like to get in a hot car. So my poor boxster has to sit outside. The neighbors probably think I'm nuts for using a car cover, but there are times when it's very helpful. The oak pollen season is the number one reason for a car cover. The oak pollen will turn your car a yellowish/green coby Skyler - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro. I hope it's that simple. I wonder if the durametric can do it?by Skyler - Main Forum
Thanks! Great seeing familiar names. Finally upgraded from my 1999 to a 2007. The differences are amazing. I put a Kenwood DDX9902S with Car Play and I'm loving that. Still in Austin, kid is 10 years old now. I retired from the Marine Reserves last year, I was getting too old to stay in front of those whipper snappers. I can't believe it's been 19 years since I put the boxster on order atby Skyler - Main Forum
I bought a 2007 boxster a few months ago and the TPC Inactive warning is driving me crazy. So I bought four new sensors and last weekend I had them installed at the local NTB. They've always done reasonable work for me in the past. After a week, including a drive to San Antonio and back (about 1.5 hours drive time) and the system is still showing an error and no indication that anything is cby Skyler - Main Forum
