Colby2 looking good! The red calipers really pop!by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
The problem was a bad contact on the drivers side fan. Was an easy fix after a lot of trouble shooting. Thanks everyone for your help.by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Started the car and tried to determine if the fans where working ok. The passenger side fan seemed to fine... but the driver side seems to be a problem. I also waited for the car to hit the the tick mark around the 210 degrees. Heard the the passenger side fan kick up but still could not detect anything coming from the driver's side. If I remove the bumper cover; can I check the fan by applby SilverBox99 - Main Forum
The bad thing about broken ribs: they only hurt when you breath... or worse... cough or laugh! Hope you you recover quickly!by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Sure, 210 isn't real hot... but the norm is around 180 and didn't want to see the temp go any higher. Sure didn't want to hurt the engine. It was past the normal 180 a little over the next tick mark... there isn't a number but I estimated it to be around 210. I did boil my thermostat until it opened. It was around 185 when I could see it actually crack open... but it did not really fby SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Thanks ? When a Box overheats where is the overflow? also if you're fan has died would the car cool down after certain amount of speed? I drove home at about 60 and the temp did not go down.by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Looking for what to do next! My 99 Boxster with @120k miles chewed up a water pump about 2 years ago. The last week it started pushing 210 degrees so turned off and let her cool down. After cooling I drove the three miles home.... it went to about 210 again. So I decided to remove and inspect the water pump and thermostat. Both seem to look in fine condition. The pump turned freely and tby SilverBox99 - Main Forum
106K and going strong! She has developed a few querks... but you could set my boxster on fire and roll her down a hill; I still would trader her for Coupe deville!by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
The heat is working pretty good now... I believe part of the problems was that darn button with the snowflake design. It appears to be a 2nd function button... you hold it in and then hit the up arrow to raise the cabin temp. Doesn't there have to be some air moving through the vane? Other wise you the cabin fan would be pulling/sucking on a dead end... no where to pull air from? Like puttinby SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Yeah... heat again!!! I tried to find some foam to tape over the holes but the foam had to be thin, strong, and heat resistent... not something I could find at Lowes or Autozone. So I went with Thermal Tape and left a part of the bottom hole open to allow just a little air flow. I do have heat now, but cant seem to get the heat on high. Turned the temp up to "HI" and still get mild heat.by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Could not find a pink lever is it on the driver side or the passenger side?by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
As suggest I checked the hoses and they were.... yeah... warm! The Heater Core is now removed and as Emmett for casted: The internal flap that blocks the external air seems in bad repair. It is about 2" wide and 9" long with big 1" holes. I did not measure this only a guesstimation. Out of about 8 holes only one has any foam left on it. The foam is very thin and seems to allow some air to mby SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Thanks... I have seen lots of foam from the vents... so why remove the core? to access the flap? Is the core under the battery or under the dash on the passenger side?by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
LOL... Yes I have had some of those cool rides myself! I'll be glad to get my heat back!by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Thank you everyone for the information.... and the pic! I now feel ready to fix this problem. Winter is almost here and having my heater back will take the frost of my perm-a-grin. I'll post you on my results!by SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Thanks Dghii.... I'm guessing a totally blocked Heater Core is least likely of the two. Found a Heater Valve for $19.99 online... so I'm planning to replace the valve and see if the corrects the problem. Can anyone tell me where and the best way to locate the Heater Valve. Thanks, Davidby SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Almost four years ago... I struggled with deciding should I purchase a sweet looking Silver '99 Boxster. She had low mileage, was a convertible, and drove like a race car. After sweating expensive repairs and wondering if it would be sensible to own a "two" seater... I immediately decided YES! By far one of the best decisions I have ever made. Could it be possible that a car could change youby SilverBox99 - Main Forum
Ok I started this 12 days of Christmas for all the Boxster Lovers... can anyone help me finish it? I installed an after market glass top. Me my son completed the job in about 8 hrs... I am very happy with the results! No chopping, no cracks, very clear and defrost! Drawbacks... a little smaller (I mainly use the mirrors when backing up) and it does stick out a bit on engine work (has kept me from getting in there!).
