At 500+ lbs extra weight than the 981-S, the Z4 & SLK were clearly boxing outside their weight class...even with the extra hp they're not in the same division. It was mentioned they should more likely be put in the GT class of cars...with folding metal roofs I'd agree.by Davzin - Main Forum

It seems that the 'other half' of the story was left on the cutting room floor? Didn't Porsche acquire a substantial debt as they tried to pull off this 'tail wags dog' scenario? And wasn't this the main reason that the good doctor (WW) was shown the door, albeit with a fine parting gift of $85M? The purchase of Porsche (takeover) by VW...has that been completed yet? And where did the 'billioby Davzin - Main Forum
I did notice that noise appearing in recent times...but it went away as the car warmed up. The oil (M1 0W/40) was changed every 5K miles, which translated to once a year. Ironically, the oil had been changed about ten days before this incident. The car ran fine right up to the CEL coming on the morning after I had driven about 150 miles over a hot weekend.by Davzin - Main Forum
I suppose that we all go through the "what could I have done differently" scenario in possibly preventing such an implosion. Since last Spring the 987 has been my only vehicle...prior to that, it was only fired up when I was going to do at least 50 miles of 'spirited' driving. It was never driven in the commuter slog so common in large urban areas...my 'commute' is from the bedroom to the homeby Davzin - Main Forum
The CEL starting flashing the other day in my '05 987...I parked the car & had it towed to the dealership. Diagnosis was a 'dead' 3rd cylinder...from a bad lifter, which took out the corresponding camshaft. The service writer called this afternoon with the tab...$2900 labor, $1530 parts (that's where the $1K camshaft comes in). Since the defective lifter was the curse of the situation, I iby Davzin - Main Forum
I've tried different pumps, gas stations, etc....the problem hasn't gone away. The first thing I checked was the fuse box, and they were all good...looks like a call to the dealer is in the future.by Davzin - Main Forum
Took my '05 987 for some airing out in the warm, mid 50s California sun today. Although it has been parked in the garage, seemingly endless rain storms & humidity made the interior seem like some dampness had accumulated. During the drive the fuel gauge hit the red zone so I pulled up too the pump to fill 'er up. Not so fast...the pump shut off at approximately 9 gallons. So I tried to hanby Davzin - Main Forum
