Also, is there any chance that the RMS is leaking because I overfilled the oil with .5 to 1 litre of oil? Thanksby porschestar - Main Forum
Hi all, I have a 2005 987 Base 2.7. For the last 11 months I had an RMS leak. Drops a few drops of oil on the driveway everyday. (going to fix it when i change the cluth one day) When this start about 11 months ago, i did my own oil change and over filled it to the top segamant probably either .5 - 1 full extra liter of oil by mistake. I go and check the oild for the last few days and its sby porschestar - Main Forum
I need a set of Grey for my 2005 - but i can't figure out that Bongo crap to ship to Toronto, Canada. I don't know why they use that for shipping to Canada.by porschestar - Main Forum
How is the 997 shifter better than the 987 shifter? is it smoother?by porschestar - Main Forum
Thanks for the reply Marc, I don't have the Boxster Bentley shop manual, but I do have the Automotive Expert software, which has helped me in the part for various projects. I'll look up some of these items on there and see the details of the procedures. Thanksby porschestar - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterra [ PM ] - Yesterday at 4:53:38 pm The clutch may need to be bled. The shift cables may need to be adjusted. The front motor mount may be worn. There may be play in the shift linkage. Last (and not terribly likely to be the problem) you may need to replace the transmission fluid. I haven't tried any of this... all good suggestions... Can any of this be done by myself or more invoby porschestar - Main Forum
I don't even know where the tranny fluid is, or if there is a drain plug for it...(never did that before, did many DIY oil changes but thats about it) but I appreciated you detailed response Marc. It also appears that I have an RMS issue - small leak, but not going to repair that till I do the clutch... so I'm not sure if that has any impact on my notchy shifting situation or not.?!?! Hi all, for the last few months, anytime I shift from 1st to 2nd or 3rd, it feel very clunky, notchy, almost like a switch.... the smooth feeling on the shifter is gone... Also downshifting into first feels a little more notchy.. any thoughts? I know its hard to diagnose a feeling... but feel likes these is missing lubrication or something with the shifter or gears? 2005 Boxster 2.7L thaby porschestar - Main Forum
Not sure if this helps anyone or not, but I made and uploaded this a year ago on Vimeo. Its 16 minutes long and its me changing my brake pads (I know some of the terminology is wrong and my mother messes up my video a bit - I used her driveway, but may be helpful to some people)by porschestar - Main Forum
Thanks guys! I looked up RMS and that seems to be exactly the description of what happening! At first I was scared of the horrid IMS issue.... I'm just curious if its such a small leak, why will it damage the flywheel? I'm using 0W-40.... I see what you mean... what would viscosity would u recommend? Thanks again!by porschestar - Main Forum
Hi All, I did an oil change this weekend and while I was under the car, I noticed some wetness, feels like oil but I could be wrong. I get 1-3 drips on the driveway over night after driving. I noticed my coolant level was below min, and i have since topped up,m but don't think that's related. 2005 Boxster 2.7L (original owner), 61,000 km Any idea of what this could be?, I included some picby porschestar - Main Forum
Thanks guys for the input... Its been about 3 weeks since they installed the springs, so I can't check the color/codes.. I'm guessing now more and more it may be the Alignment. The poster that mention that my original alignment may have been off - I think is actually correct... I brought my car into an after market tire shop a year ago (b4 this issue) to swap out some winter times and thby porschestar - Main Forum
It seems like everyone thinks its and alignment issue (which sounds most likely now)... not a new springs issue... that is making things sensitive.. At first I thought the new springs may be extra hard...hence more sensitive?by porschestar - Main Forum
Hi All... I have a 2005 Boxster 987 Base, that has about 50,000 km on it. One of my front coil springs snapped. Porsche was very kind and replaced it even thou it was out of warranty - guessing wit the low mileage on the car. They ended up replacing both front springs as they mentioned they replace them as a pair. They also performed a 4 wheel alignment after replacing them. My issby porschestar - Main Forum
