Thats fantastic… Blades all good too….by bnsc100 - Main Forum
I have a 1999 car with 38K miles too. I just did mine while doing fluid changes etc… I do 95% of all my work myself. Main reasons I did it were the impeller blade issue and the fact that if I was on the road on a weekend trip it would cost a ton more to have a failure in that situation… DIY for pump and stat = $350-$400. Tow and reputable shop to do it would be 2-3X that. If DIY and youby bnsc100 - Main Forum
1999 Base Bosxter - 2.5L 38,000 MI weekend driver that stays garaged 100% of the time. When I purchased the car I immediately put plastic "weather tech" type inserts over the floor mats. The carpets were good when new and the bottom of the floor mats are still clean…. I have taken out the fiberglass floor inserts and mats 1-2 times since installing 15 yrs ago. Last time was probably at leaby bnsc100 - Main Forum
Thanks Guys. I actually got it to turn. Warmed up the key with a heat gun and it helped. Stiff turning action has always been worse in the cold. Also, I did not have a good feel for the resistance turning the key as I was not in my usual position in the seat. Tend not to climb in and out of cars on stands…Anyway, fed something wrong with the lock. Thanks for the tips, will investigate moby bnsc100 - Main Forum
Sorry if this has been answered, but searches failed to bring up my specific issue. I have been doing some service and now having some issues. The Car: 1999 Base Boxster. Original Owner. 38,000 miles. Weekend pleasure driver gets approx 2,500 miles/yr. Current service project underway: All fluids, All filters including fuel, plugs, water pump, motor mount. I think you are probably right... Had one person look at it and they said chain, but who knows..... ride is smooth..by bnsc100 - Main Forum
Ok. Reasonablely easy DIY? I think Pedro has a procudure posted, yes? NOTE: My car is smooth. No rough ride at that RPM. Just sounds like a pie pan rattling, but no vibration can I feel really at all.... Just the sound..... Wondering if the mount will change the sound...by bnsc100 - Main Forum
1999 with 35K miles. I dont think my mount is bad... Probably other issues that apparently are not easy to fix. Maybe replace my mount in a few years or in amount 10,000 miles... At the 15 year mark I was going to make the rounds on a few items due to time etc...by bnsc100 - Main Forum
What is it really then? The mount in question is right below the sep belt area just behind the seats, yes? My noise does not seem to come from there... Im thinking I would hear it from just behind the seats if it was the mount and it does not seem that way. Could it be the chain? I know some people do use aftermarket tensioners etc... Is bad mount super easy to check...? Im doing an oil chanby bnsc100 - Main Forum
Predo A very good import indi tech who knows performance cars told me the 2,800 - 3,000 RPM neutral throttle buzz was related to the vario cam. For some reason around that RPM the chain might have a brief moment of less tension and will produce noise. He commented that it seemd to be less apparent with the A/C on etc... Meaning whenver the engine has more load. It's loadest when at neutral thby bnsc100 - Main Forum
I want to know too about this issue too. I get buzzing / rattling coming off the throttle or running at neutral throttle 2,800 - 3,000 RPM. More speifically at 2,800. 1999 car with only 35K miles. Im thinking the mount always discussed is right behind the removable fire wall behind the seats but the buzzing does not sound that close...? I dont seem to hear it coming "from behind the firewallby bnsc100 - Main Forum
Petee_C I see you have the Bentley book. Just note that it does not mention this "special" tool. Dont forget to consider this before you remove cover. See my notes above. As the shafts are to some degree held down by the cover itself, I think it's possible for spring pressure to push out the ends opposide the chains. Again, my car is a 99 2.5. Just my $.02. Im just a shadetree guy at veryby bnsc100 - Main Forum
Not by any means telling anyone they shouldn't replace the bolts. I just diddn't on mine 2 years ago. I did however, place a really small ring of the loctite silicone (same sealant as the mating surface) around the last few threads under the bolt head. When you pull the cover off and clean the old sealant, you should notice that some of the silicone from the factory was actually in the threadeby bnsc100 - Main Forum
2 years ago I was where you are now... 1999 Boxster, so base model 2.5... I sat, pondered, got advice etc for a week before deciding that I could not live with the plastic bit in there... I went in to get it. DIY.. After it's over, I would do the same thing again. Some of my personal notes below. Send me a PM if you want to go further into my experience with this. NOTE: IM NOT EXPERIENCED,by bnsc100 - Main Forum
So, am I correct in thinking that doing the xenon conversion will reduce my heat and prevent burning / yellowing of the interior lens? AND the yellowing we are talking about is not just exposure to the sun / elements? I have a 1999 garage queen with 32k miles but would be interested if the oem bulbs are burning the inside of the lens and how I can prevent. My car looks good today but my oem loby bnsc100 - Main Forum
Can we do a vote on best replacement? Did not see many first hand commenst in search. Sorry if it's been done. Most importanatly, dont want to upgrade to anything that burns hotter / might cause any damage. Below is a copy paste from Mike F's site. Assume all the silverstar's are the sylvania brand. Want good light but also like to burn as low temp as pssoible.... Any advice is great. Lowby bnsc100 - Main Forum
I did my first DIY oil change on the car approx 2 years ago / 7,500 miles ago. Again, annual changes at approx 3,000 miles. I did see the "caramel swirl" in the oil. Noticed it more when I was dumping my large drain pan into milk jugs for disposal. At the time I had no idea what it was and it was the first DIY I had done since watching Dad as a kid... I only recall it after recently readingby bnsc100 - Main Forum
I do have the original motor mount. Everything in the car is stock / original.by bnsc100 - Main Forum
I’m posting "my list" today. This is item #2... Car: 1999 standard Boxster 5 speed manual trans Miles = 32,000 Pleasure car driven couple times a month. Oil is changed annually, usually approx every 3,000 miles. I use Mobile 1 0/40 Issue: When I'm driving and under "neutral throttle" I get this buzzing around 2,800 RMP. If I hover around this speed at neutral throttle (neither acceleratinby bnsc100 - Main Forum
Thought I would ask before pulling things apart. 1999 Standard Boxster 32K miles (pleaseure driver) Issue: When ignition switch is OFF and lights are ON, one headlight burns dim in "parking mode", the other is dark (No burn at all). When I turn the ignition, the "dark" light kicks into standard low beam burn and the light that worked with switch off (dim parking mode) goes out completely (darkby bnsc100 - Main Forum
