Hi John! Hope you are doing well. My '04 has the same issue, not just lifting but a good inch(!) of carpet shrinkage. In my case it is from the middle rather than the edges. Curiously there are a couple plastic clips that I removed from that area, not knowing what they were for - now I think I know that must been a late 986 partial fix to try to slow down the issue. No cure I can see short ofby Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
Bum luck. Hope you find a good solution for less money and get back on the road soon. Charlieby Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum

...that my 2001 330i is running just fine and as e46 looks better than the newer ones AND has a regular tires and a FULL SIZE spare. Yeah, that's what I'll keep telling myself.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
I'm still a confirmed hater, but always fun to see the new stuff. I do like the new top.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
OK, so this 986 541 521 01 looks like the right part. Seems the right length, all black rubber, what I was expecting. I have some desire now to replace the bottom strip, although it is in pretty good shape.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
I didn't realize you already had one, looks good. We'll see how long my cheap one lasts now.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum

I thought you guys would like to know about this option. I picked up this Black and Decker maintainer for less than $21(!) on Amazon, and it actually works. It comes with several cables including a cigarette lighter cable that fit fine and works well on my '04 S. In using it for the past month, it works great and my only regret is not getting it sooner. I had no idea such a cheap option existed..by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
This is to prepare for replacing my windshield on my '04 S. I am expecting this part to be the regular black rubber version rather than the S version with the silly gray trim that discolors so quickly. I'll give an update when I get the part in...by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
I'm pretty sure they are rivets. I'm sure they could be shot off, though.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
Anyone notice they have practically eliminated the most import 550 Spyder motif -- the fenders! Look closely, there is virtually no bulges to the hood (or rear deck), to the degree the design was so messed up they added an artifical crease just to serve as an homage to where the curves used to be. I won't be buying ones of these ever, I don't care how well it drives.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum

I'm sure it will be a brilliant execution of that invigorating concept that has been sweeping driving enthusiasts by storm -- the cute ute.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
They add the hardware change(airbox) but really just dial in the ECU for the requisite power gain. Always a mix of engineering and marketing with Porsche. I laugh when I see the little fabric door pulls on the Spyder. Real weight improvements, and then the ones that they can put in the pictures in the brochures. I'll bet there is 20 lbs of surplus plastic under the dash that could be pulled butby Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
Always wondered what that extra 6 or 8 hp in the Special Edition came from, that differs from my regular 2004 S...anyone know?by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum

The 987 was showing some "tendencies" to squaring off and flattering curves, but with this one the transition is complete. I am not reminded of the 1993 concept or the 550. It isn't a bad looking car, and it is mercifully free of the design cliches that are rampant today. But it isn't the Boxster that took my breath away.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum

...I could hardly get her to look at it, she hated the styling so much. I'm baffled by Top Gear's love for it. I don't even know how it can handle in an entertaining way since it has the height/width ratio of a tour bus.by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum

I had issues with mine (also an 04) popping from the side...turned out there is a metal rod on each end that presses the headline forward. Sometimes it would "spread" to the middle and beyond. Are you sure yours always starts from the center?by Charlie (Sacramento CA) - Main Forum
