When I had a Boxster, I used Rhino Ramps, and they worked fine, though it's a little tricky backing onto them, particularly with a stick shift. I was always worrying what would happen if I gave it too much gas and drove off the back of the ramp. They are a lot easier to use driving forward with our FWD Saab 9-5, which is an automatic. With our 06 911, I can back it up to the edge of the garageby John in Bismarck - Main Forum
Saab 9-3 or VW New Beetle? Saabs are great in winter. Convertibles with stick shifts are hard to find, but both of these were at least offered with manuals. We have a Jeep Wrangler. It's way different from any other vehicle. Fine in town, not so much on the highway. The top takes at least 15 minutes to take down and store, but it's a real blast when the top is off, in more ways than one. It'sby John in Bismarck - Main Forum
Thanks for the clip. I agree that the highway sure looks narrow. Out here, land is cheap and the shoulders are wide, which helps people who spin out on the ice because they were driving with the cruise control on and had crappy tires. They can roll a few times without hitting anything, but many of them end up dead anyway because they weren't wearing their seat belts and they were ejected fromby John in Bismarck - Main Forum
Wow, thanks for all the great information and advice. Lots to think about. There aren't many Porsches to see in ND, much less drive, so almost all of my looking and driving is done when I'm traveling. In order to buy something else, I pretty much have to sell the Boxster first and then start looking in earnest. Selling a great car and then hoping you can find something you like better isn't mucby John in Bismarck - Main Forum
My wife and I have enjoyed our 2005 Boxster since we bought it in May 08 (from a dealer where, I discovered later, it was traded in by a PPBB member). I have wanted a 911 for a long time (since my high school days, driving my Corvair Corsa convertible and wishing it was a Porsche), and think it's time to get one before I get too old to enjoy one. We would use it for around town driving and someby John in Bismarck - Main Forum
Not as far as I can tell, but I tend to drive like a 60 year old man most of the time. Maybe once spring gets here I'll have a better chance to test them. I sure feel way safer driving on the Contis in cold weather. Those PS2's were terrible!by John in Bismarck - Main Forum
I put Continental DWS 18 inch all season tires on our 05 Boxster last fall. I haven't driven it much so far (it is still winter in North Dakota, though mild and dry by our standards) but they ride well and are much quieter than the Michelin PS2's it came with. Those tires were hard as hockey pucks in cold weather. For my driving, I think the Contis will be fine. They were also a lot cheaper thaby John in Bismarck - Main Forum
