Hi all Couple of issues affecting the fun of my 2003 Boxster S ... the radio and my heated seats aren't working. Radio: When I turn the car on, it's making a clicking sound like there's a scratched CD spinning in there. Only problem is, there's no CD in there. Also, the radio itself isn't working either (AM or FM). It continually cycles through this loop. This leads me to believe either the radby hoppy44 - Main Forum
Saw it Friday night here in Seattle! Had to do a double take and rewind and say I think I know him! Nice job Pedro.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Hey Pedro and others Just wanted to close the loop here to say the Indie followed Pedro's instructions and drained the coolant, drew a vacuum, closed the bleeder valve, took it on a brisk drive and everything held up fine, solving the problem! They did put on a new cap as well, so technically we can't be 1,000% sure that wasn't a factor, but that is a remote possibility (since the cap was prettby hoppy44 - Main Forum
Thanks so much for the info Pedro. Bringing it back this week and they are going to do your solution at no charge so I'll report back with how things went. Appreciate it.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Hi all. Trying to play detective here with a coolant issue on my 2003 Boxster S w/90k miles Timeline - Night I arrived to BRBS in 2018, coolant light was flashing after 12 hour drive - We filled it up, not sure on bleeder valve (assume it is closed) - On first fun run next day, as soon as I stopped, full coolant dump #1 - We filled up, Alan followed me back to Swiss Inn, went about the day - Sby hoppy44 - Main Forum
- Thanks for that site Mike... knew there had to be something like that somewhere - Good point Stefan, I'll have them save the IMS (I've always saved and inspected the oil filter all these years) - Myself and the car are in Manhattan Grant, so my answer is kind of "within a reasonable distance of the city." Since I'm not really loyal to any one shop, I figured I'd start here in search of the mby hoppy44 - Main Forum
@Rey ... yes, I feel like my luck was unbelievable. I literally drove for more than an hour on the Parkway twisties (that was the fun part), but at any point could have been stranded on a blind corner, with nowhere to pull off, or 100 miles from my destination, or somewhere with no cell service. So to pull off at a scenic viewpoint, have the first guy that came up to me diagnose the problem on thby hoppy44 - Main Forum
Hi all So after saving $600 in repairs at BRBS on a new door latch assembly (Thanks for installing, Pedro!), I immediately gave it back 24 hours later when my axle separated from the transmission on the Parkway (got incredibly lucky that I glided into a scenic viewpoint with full cell reception). I made the 700 mile trip back to NYC ok, but it's apparent that my clutch is on its last legs, the Rby hoppy44 - Main Forum
It's all about positioning, right? I was at the dealer yesterday and they had a sweet looking Macan Turbo. I was making small talk and asked how sales were going (totally sold out) and who the target audience was, wondering if it was geared toward buyers that wanted something a little smaller than the Cayenne. The sales guy says something to the effect of... "The positioning from Porsche is noby hoppy44 - Main Forum
Dropping my 2003 off first thing in the morning for a 75,000 checkup and oil change. Fingers (and wallet) crossed that nothing major comes up. Changed the 2 air filters today so at least they can't do the 3x markup on those.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Ah, I remember that but wasn't sure how all of you eventually resolved it. Yup, quite the system they've got.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Bottom line: - Called a third and "best" attorney from the pile of letters (I "scientifically" judged their "competence" by how good their websites looked) - He gave me the identical story and identical price as the other two lawyers and from what I read online (they all charge $100 + the $50 racket charge for the courts) - I asked and he "didn't know" if NC shared point info with NYC, but it looby hoppy44 - Main Forum
@Guenter -- Geico seemed to indicate that a single ticket wouldn't raise my rates. The person I spoke with was super nice, but also seemed a little vague for my liking. I guess they check your rates no matter what every 6 months when they renew, and if it's one ticket, you're ok. Seemed to imply that accidents might be more of an issue. But if it were a trend or mulitple things within a 6 monthby hoppy44 - Main Forum
In terms of them finding me, I guess every speeding ticket must get written up in the country records for public viewing (doesn't appear to be published online thankfully). And yes, it appears the state gets money... part of the +$145 is $50 that the state gets every time. Here is an article on improper equipment. And yes Grant, it seems everything is more expensive in NY/NJ. Sigh.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Hey all... need to hear from the attorneys out there. - Got an early start home from BRBS to NYC and got snagged doing 79 in a 65 on I-40. $218. (Dumb... the highway was empty at 730am and I was a sitting duck... minivans were flying past me in traffic at 90mph a few hours later) - A week later I had 5 letters/ads from attorneys familiar with my situation and offering their assistance - From wby hoppy44 - Main Forum

Living in Manhattan, I have 7 other "rides": Walking, Subway, City buses, Taxis, the new bike share program, the NY-BOS Bolt Bus in winter, and JetBlue.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Hope it works out for you mkd. Like Grant said, our situations are somewhat different in that you don't get a CEL, but it sounded close enough that I would post it. Same driving pattern for me... I live in NYC and use the car April-November, but other than BRBS only get to use it a few times a month at best. Garaged in pretty cold temps in Boston Nov-March. Premium gas. Ran great other than thatby hoppy44 - Main Forum
It sounds like something I had last year. 2003 Boxster S, about 60,000 miles at the time. Would be running fine, cruising highway at 50/60/70/80, and then I'd get a slight hestiation/buck and then back to normal. The CEL would flash briefly but nothing else. Was very intermittent. Felt like a misfire. Had Maurice check the codes at BRBS but nothing came up. Tried replacing the spark plugs (thby hoppy44 - Main Forum
I second the Sumitomo HTR Z III. Put them on a few years ago and they've been great. After putting 2,000+ miles on the car to/from BRBS, I'm probably up for a new set soon.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
A friend of mine moved to Asheville last year, so with the ability to work remotely, why wouldn't I head down to NC a full week before BRBS and get in some extra driving. Went up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway for about 3 hours on Thursday. Both the drive and the weather were glorious. Figured I'd share a photo. Can't wait to see everyone.by hoppy44 - Main Forum

Bruce... thanks for the continual updates. I know it's not fun given the situation, but it really helps the community here and I'm sure is appreciated. And yes, my parents have a pretty old Camry as well, so when I go from my Boxster to that when visiting, it's quite the adjustment.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Interesting story about Steve Jobs... Adams, using some of the cash he’d earned from the sale of his company, bought a Porsche 911 at the same time Steve Jobs did. To avoid car-door dings, they parked near each other–taking up three parking spaces between them. One day Jobs rushed over to Adams’ cubicle and told him they had to move the cars. “I said, ‘Why?,’ and he said, ‘Randy,by hoppy44 - Main Forum
Hi all Figured I'd post a wrap-up here in case people run into this problem in the future (I hate it when I'm searching for an answer on internet message boards, and find the problem I'm having, suggested solutions, but the person never comes back on so you don't know if it worked or not). In short - I took your suggestion and had the coils replaced - In the 2,000 miles since, I have not had aby hoppy44 - Main Forum
Yes, such a fantastic time. Saturday's fun run will go down as one of the highlights of the past year for me... spectacular weather, perfect roads, "spirited driving," great friends. Amazing. Alas, back to the reality of living in New York City... - Cruise 690 miles in 12 hours - Sit in bumper to bumper tunnel traffic for 1 hour for the final 1 mile (ironically pulling up right behind Jaay inby hoppy44 - Main Forum
There was a chicken and a horse playing together on a farm one day. The horse fell into a mud pit and yelled to the chicken to run to the house and get the farmer. The chicken ran to the house and the farmer was nowhere to be found. So, it got into the farmer's Porsche and pulled the horse out with it. The next day the chicken and the horse were playing on the farm again. This time the chicken fby hoppy44 - Main Forum
Not that the sweet sound of our engines and the open air is bad, but what about updating your music collection? I'm preparing for BRBS and grabbed a few new CDs and downloaded some MP3s. I like to mix it up... some classical and jazz to keep calm and listen to while in stop and go traffic, some fast driving mixes for the open road, and some entertaining stand up comedy for long stretches. Well... they still made a pretty big dent in my wallet with several other items that needed to be done, but yes, at least this part was a nice ending. Looking forward to getting it all behind me before BRBS -- at least permagrin is always free.by hoppy44 - Main Forum
