Playing right now (at least on Verizon cable TV) Ian has stripped a Boxster to a driveable shell and is building a supercar on it. Some folks may get sick when they see how he cuts apart the 986 so if you are one of them, don't watch.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Presently the cost of producing Hydrogen makes it uneconomical for use in autos and normal solar power isn't cost effective producing hydrogen. One solar powered plant is in production and it utilizes computerized concentrated mirrors and solar energy to produce hydrogen which they say is cost effective. The plant is a full size plant, not just a demonstration labratory and building many more isby tom coughlin - Main Forum
An alternative is a mount that uses the tow hook so you don't put screw holes in your car. I have used them for years and it works just fine.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
For 356s, a Kardex gives that information and they can be readily bought. If they are available for 911s, it should give what you want. Maybe only available thru 1969 (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/821492-kardex-how.html)by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I found . Looks like I get a new top.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
The top and window are in great shape so I hope a top-shop can fix it or if its really simple, I can do it. What have others experienced? If DIY, what adhesive?by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I learned early on that static electricity causes invisible dust to attach to the plastic. If you want to keep a plastic window clear for years, wet wipe and pat dry before you lower the top. The one on my '02 lasted very clear for over ten years. If you lower the top dirty, the invisible dust act like sandpaper. Use a wet, white paper towel and you'll probably be able to see the almost invisiblby tom coughlin - Main Forum
He has long run that car unmuffled so that may just be a straight pipe just proving that he's more concerned with performance than strict authenticity.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
You got a great shot of a Speedster and a roadster. The black Speedster (with the tennis balls keeping bugs out of the carbs) has been owned by the owner/driver since the mid-1970s. The blue roadster will never rust since it's fiberglass, but is a great looking car inspired by Ferry Porsche's design.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I am too but that should be obvious!!! It's the way we all learn.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
After inspecting my air filter and finding it A OK, I reinstalled the plastic cover taking care to insure that the bottom attachment part was properly latched. The test drive at high rpm proved that the roar and air flapping noise was gone. Since removing and reinstalling the air filter cover was the only thing I did, I believe that was the source of the unique noise.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Fond, sweet memories of youth are always to be enjoyed. I do remember the first time revving, while trying to merge into traffic so I wasn't eyeballing the tach. It didn't bring a smile but a frown/question mark since the engine cut power after reaching the rev limiter much sooner than I had expected.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Recently I have noticed a small change in engine operating sound that wasn't really very apparent at local street speeds. Today on the highway I wound it up and somewhere over 4000 a new sound came on strong, really loud, not open muffler loud but a power roar. I've never heard a de-snorked car so I'm guessing here. My car is a 2005S with 70,000 miles. Stock muffler. Car was in for service to rby tom coughlin - Main Forum
I love your car, but then mine in Dedham is the same Blue 2005 and I drove it last night as I do all winter. Winter will end!by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Radio is fixed and now I have a CEL and two faults. I hope both units haven't failed and maybe it's a failed hose or connection. We'll see. Too cold for me to work on it in an unheated garage so the money will be gone fast.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I pulled the fuses and let it sit for a few hours, replaced them and now it works! Thanks for the suggestion.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I plan to pull the fuse overnight and see if it resets and corrects..by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Both the FM tune via the knob and the presets no longer work. The AM select and presets do work as well as the CD. If the radio (Bose) is too expensive to repair I will replace it with a Sirius radio. Any advice on the problem or on whish satellite radio to use?by tom coughlin - Main Forum

The owner didn't get one (but I said that in my firrst post)by tom coughlin - Main Forum
A friend bought a 2000 Boxster and when he didn't know how to check the oil I showed him the dipstick but couldn't get the electronic readout to display after turning the key. Of course he didn't get a manual with the car but I was under the impression that it would have the electronic oil level display.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
In MA it required over 500 miles to get enough data to keep the inspection computer happy.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
The battery maintainers are inexpensive and work well (for example Black and Decker has one I've used). Plug it in and go away. If your return should be delayed a month or a year it shouldn't matter.by tom coughlin - Main Forum

is emergency stopping. I used to drive my Boxster with summer tires on clear winter days until I read a post from somebody who did the same. He was on the interstate and when the traffic suddenly stopped but he couldn't and crashed. Ever since reading that probably 15 years ago I've always changed to winter tires when the temp drops below about 40. You can be careful about acceleration and corneby tom coughlin - Main Forum

I drove my '02 to FL on winter tires from Boston one March and even took in the Tail of the Dragon. They were just fine but of course I was not pushing the limits, just normal fun Boxster driving.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
