Yes. There are some nice roads in WNC's Blue Ridge Mountains. If you check out Little Switzerland, NC. The Diamondback - NC 226A runs right by it. And, there are other roads like that in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here's part of the Diamondback, going downhill at this part. I had a friend driving behind me when I still had my 987.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
I'm surprised that Porsche hasn't come up with the PSSG (Porsche Short Second Gear) option. It could be a nice $3570 checkbox.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Not a 550 Spyder, but here you can ride along in a 996. This is heading south. It's a handy road for the Porsche family. Their estate is in Zell am Zee, just about a 30 minute drive north of the Grossglockner and Gmünd, where the first Porsche - the 356-01 and 51 more like it were built, is only about a one hour drive west of the Grossglockner.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
This story is in the Christophorus Magazine and right now they have it on the Porsche website. It gives some neat history about the Porsche Family and the Grossglockner. In this one Wolfgang Porsche and his son Ferdinand (Ferdi) drive a couple of 550 Spyders up the Grossglockner, highest mountain road in Austria. We were able to drive this road on our Europe tour back in 2019. Porsche Familyby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
QuoteCarreraLicious Nice! Easy to do 150+ in a 992! Did you rent in manual? That was when the 992 had just come out and before the manual was available in the 992. I don't think I've seen any manuals available from the company that rents out the Porsches. The challenge with getting the fast speeds is that traffic is heavier in Germany than it used to be (much like here in NA). Also only aboutby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Yup. I try to un-ugh winter with pictures and videos. And, try to keep my working environment Porsche friendly. Then I can crank up the speakers and pull up some video - this one from the day we rented Porsches and drove them on the Autobahn on our Germany / Switzerland / Austria trip in 2019. I managed to get it to 246 kph = 152 mph at the 2:47 mark, unfortunately blocked out by the glare onby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
PCA actually includes USA and Canada. Frogster would belong to the region if he joined. Here in Ontario, I belong to the Upper Canada Region I'm sure Frogster can answer this better than I can, but I thing part of his conundrum is the relatively few driving roads out on Vancouver Island and it's roughly a 1.5 hour ferry boat ride to get to the mainland where there are more driving opportuniby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

QuoteRev Dennis The other Dennis lives near me. He had the z car and the bullit. I had the Shelby and the nsx. And now the other Dennis has a Cayman, along with a picture to prove it.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
QuoteSteveJ (2010 987 base, manual trans) Then, there are the "cheater" manuals which allow automatic rev matching on downshift. I have one of those, brand new Cayman T sitting in the garage waiting for the weather to change. At least you're getting to do all the shifting. Unless it's changed in the 718 models, I believe automatic rev matching only happens in Sport Plus mode on cars with Sportby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Glad you see you back. Sounds like a nice car, but we need proof. Here are picture sharing instructions:by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Yes. Well done review. The only part of the review that I disagree with is the comment about the "cluttered" interior. I know it's personal taste, but I like the layout of the individual buttons. When I'm driving my 981, I can adjust pretty much anything - temperature, PSE, Sport mode, PSM, seat heating / venting etc without ever having to take my eyes off the road. Thanks for the link, Pedro. Very nice PCA publication. You sure have adventures with your Boxster. This one was a doozy for sure. Just glad that you're OK. So did the nurse write you an official letter to say you don't need to wear a helmet when racing? Seems almost like a repeat of when you got your carbon fiber hood in the first place. I recall it happening on your way to BRBS, when a certaby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

WOW! Snowflakes south of the border are HUGE. They almost dwarf your car.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
I noticed you didn't show a picture of the whole car. I supposed just because you had a bit of snow, you had the roof closed.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Yup got it! Reminds me of when I bought my first Boxster. The only options it had to have where Silver (Arctic Silver in 2006.) And manual transmission. And as you said earlier, the T has the right options to enhance an already great handling car. Enjoy.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
QuoteSteveJ (2010 987 base, manual trans) Thanks for the info. Here is another try. You almost had it. I was able to see it by clicking on the link in your post. Make sure you use the BBCode for the picture to show up. Looks like this: img imagesby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Can't wait to see your new Cayman, Steve. Did you try using the instructions at the top left to upload to and share the picture the dealer sent you? I agree with you. GT Silver is a gorgeous colour. It changes during sunny and cloudy weather. What other options besides GT Silver, manual and adaptive Sport Seats did you get?by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
shows just how valuable this board and its members can be to one another. Now you'll have to find something else to spend that not-needed-new-stereo money on.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Sorry to hear that's how it ended for your Boxster. You sure got a lot of use out of it. Was it still the original engine?by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

Looking great. That car looks it wants to be driven at least a couple of hundred miles a week. Such a timeless design. I agree, the ride height looks really good. More important, I bet it handles better than the stock setup. Hope you have lots of time to enjoy it this year.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

Nice picture. How did you edit the snow out of the picture?by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
About a week ago, you mentioned having problems with the car starting and other electrical issues that sometime are caused by a faulty ignition switch (the electronic part). You mentioned that you've replaced the ignition switch recently. It's possible the new switch is faulty. In any case, as Frogster said, I'd play it safe have the problem checked out. At least that's the way the article reads. Cars with PASM are permanently 0.4 inches lower. Also, "the concept car pictured below" isn't the concept car. Righting ain't watt it used tubby.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
