Quotegrant Oh, the physical job is not tough at all, aside form the fact that the filter is waaaaay up there. Much like M96 / 986 oil change. But ......... The lack of a dipstick is a serious issue IMO. Grant Hey Grant! Sorry, a bit late to the party but... My 2009 C2S 9A1 DFI engine is the same way.... no dipstick... although the filter is on the top of the engine (nice!). No dipstick andby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I am getting a bit nostalgic seeing that car. It really was great for me. Nice hearing from you.... keep at it. On my C2S, I DIY everything... except that coil pack horror. I keep it running tip top. My next project I hope will be a center radiator kit this spring before the Atlanta hots come to town. Peace Bruceby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
2009 C2S 177K miles Hey man, and hey to others familiar on the board. I still have my 2009 C2S and driving every day. I move recently to Atlanta... just purchased a house. Yes I paid way too much for it, but then I sold my house near Philly for way too much. Quick Atlanta story: All my tools are in storage... moved to apt while looking for a house... and sure enough, my C2S popped a dashby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I am not sure Porsche was ever really independent. The Peich family owned large chunks of Porsche and VW and considered them complimentary components of their investment portfolio. They rarely competed head on with product and have always shared parts such as electrical connectors and such. However, given Porsche expansion of product into new markets (for them), they immediatly coordinated wiby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I stored a 1982 Datsun 280ZXyqlmnopq in a cement mine in Wampum PA for 7 years. Drove it in, shut it off, pulled the battery. Bye Bye. No fuel stabilizer... nothing. Seven years later, put a battery in, turned over maybe 3 times and started right up. No chit. Pumped up the tires and drove the square tires on backroads home to a service station where I had the car serviced, injectors blownby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Nice car.... I did a Boxster to 2009 C2S...... I like the more power of the 911 but the Boxster was way more fun, lighter, better handling,.... just a better sports car IMO. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Don't overthink your interior... it is not a Faberge egg. For leather, I just use a small saucer of water with some Dawn dish soap... then take a hard, dry sink sponge, dab in the water/soap and start to rub. No need to wet it down much. Then dry with a towel. Then I apply leather conditioner..... I use Zaino simply because of the leather smell, but any of the top brands are more than fine.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I prefer my old, gone Boxster. I had a 2000 Boxster S and now a 2009 C2S. The Boxster is clearly a better handling, more fun car to own and drive. Just is. Done. I can sum it all up.... lighter!!!, mid-engine, closed in cockpit, slightly shorter gears. Simply more of a sports car than a 911. The 911 has become a great GT car as Porsche is going after a very large, well-healed, poser marketby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I assume you want to avoid a sleeved engine because they are bad.... well, engines of this vintage had many different failure modes, a slipped sleeve was just one. How do I know? I had two engines fail in my 2000 Boxster S. Regarding remanufactured engines, my replacement had an "X" in the number. It did not have a blue dot. There was a belief back then that remanufactured meant used... asby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I had a new MAF put into my 2000 Boxster S and they had to update the software with it. It was what they did back then.... IIRC, they didn;t "select" the correct MAF, they just used up the old inventory, and then moved to the new MAF with software. I am a bit surprised they even make the older part. However, you dipping and bobbing RPMs may be as simple as cleaning your throttle body. Very eby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Check your manual for the correct fluid.... as Mark notes, it is the PTX stuff and dealers don;'t always use it. My manual for my 2009 C2s denotes Mobilube PTX specifically because it is a GL4.5 spec. The GL number denotes if it is for transmissions 4 or differentials 5 (or visa versa). Since our cars have a transaxle, you get the GL 4.5 and Mobilube PTX is the only product I found that is 4.5by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Interesting....thanx for that. I tried using my MUS 4.3 to breath life into my wife's two year failed Duralast Gold using the "refubishment" cycle.... didn't work. The battery may have been too far gone but I don;t know enough about these things. The battery was showing slow starts.... I would CTEK it and it would start well for 1/2 day..... I checked the fluid levels and one chamber was 1/2by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

Bummer for us Marc! So, how many miles were on your cars and how much did you get for them? I am very curious what a high mileage Porsche brings. Just a wonder.... how long will it take you to learn all the common check engine codes? Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Trucking fleets are still moving to Natural Gas, away from diesel. Electric "diesels" have a huge momentum gap to leap. I saw NG pumps going in at all truck stops on I80 across PA 7-8 years ago.... Cummins and others have both engines designed specifically for NG as well as kits to retrofit existing diesels. Cummins took many big, long-term orders from long-haulers like Roadway. Acceleration is nice, but the whole fantasy and reality of sports cars is track driving. Once they make a battery system that won't overheat and can be used to drive to the track, run all weekend, and drive home, these Teslas are just silicone on a bimbo. Of course, we American tend to like silicone on a bimbo.... Detroit always knew this and that is why American cars were alsays lousy at handlby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Quotedennisafrompa I've been around since March of '99. 3 Boasters, one 350Z, one Mustang Bullitt and a 2008 Cayman later, we're still here. Hey Dennis! Don't you think it odd that both of us had two engine failures (IIRC) and ended up back in a Porsche... and still wandering on this board? What do you make of this? Wow! twenty years! I started in late 1999 IIRC. How have you been Meredith? I still remember lunch near Atlanta.... that was what, twenty years ago? Sheesh. What are you driving now? Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
In my experience, wheel bearings that require replacement will always be louder in a turn with lateral pressure on the bearing.... and usually in only one direction and not the other.... this goes for front or rear. This has always been the case for me. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Once I find a car I like, I really have no reason to get rid of it.... unless it blows up of course. I would rather put my money into retirement and stop this crap as early as I can. I would still be driving that 2000 Boxster S....... I loved that car. Selfishly, I would love to read your write ups about another car...... but c'mon, you can get another 200K out of that Boxster... then you wouby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
If this is blue car, I had all four bearing changed staggered within 20K fronts to rears...... don't remember the mileage, but say around 100K miles. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I don't remember the parts catalog having anything like that..... they used that standard "cubby' as the no-option item for unused slots. Items that did go in there, and were interchangable, were CD slot thingy, radio, Bose digital control (first think I ripped out of there), and the cubby.... not sure what else they had. When a control arm would go, they would clunk and I always found this before the dealer did.... not sure if that is good or bad, but that is the way it was. Except for the worn lateral control arms in the rear... the ones that run front to back. The way I found these was the car would change direction slightly when pressing then removing the gas. So....... get up to about 70 MPH on a smooth hiby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Stabil fans: oh oh... from a contrarian... I stored my '80 280ZX Turbo in a cave (old cement mine) located in Wampum PA for.... wait for it.... seven years!! yep... seven. I did not put in any additive, just drove it in, pulled the battery out and left it. The caves are naturally temp and humidity controlled.... this thing was deep in the mountain. My dad and I pulled it out seven years lby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

I did about 2.5 weeks.... Most in Sicily.... I stayed in Valetta but only one night... hotel not good... so I went across the bay to Sliema where the hotels and area are more modern... there is a water taxi that goes back and forth all the time. I can't remember all the details, but I think I had a car for two days..... you can see the whole island in one day, two if you are slow about it. I loved Malta... rented a car... NP at all..... missed the museum. I combined did a Malta/Sicily trip.... drove everywhere, hydrofoil between the two. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
On second thought, Could it be your air conditioning? I would get a random wooshing sound that the Tech said was my AC..... really odd sound. He replaced some sort of valve... I think it was located in the front of the Boxster...... my memory is not what it was dang it...... Have you checked the pressure in the system lately?
