Not cheap, but very sticky. The Conti Extreme Sport are less expensive but don't have the same dry stick. Not that I'm biased but you got a great car. They do sell a X73 suspension kit which I'd recommend for track duty==IIRC, suncoast sells it for about $1400(struts/springs and sway bars)by MikenOH - Main Forum
331 Box/Cay sales in a month when historically they have sold in much higher numbers in NA--not good. The trend seems pretty clear now that the 718 has been out for a year--for some reason (sound/price/down turn in sports car sales/?) sales for this model and market segment have tanked, making Porsche even more dependent on sales of SUV's & sedans. The 911 sales drop seems even more significby MikenOH - Main Forum
My comment was not so much a criticism as a statement of fact of where this car maker sees the market for their cars. I can't think of any car maker that wouldn't love to be able to target that market because of those fat margins. But...the notion of them using the margins generated by the high margin/large sales numbers of the SUV business, supplemented with the high margins from the 911 modelby MikenOH - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Quotefrogster not sure if you're just making fun of porsche's options prices or didn't notice that it's a "3" on a "2" car. It's a yes to both questions. I did notice the "3" and was poking some fun at Porsche pricing. There's a reason that Porsche has the highest profit ($17,250 US) per car of any car manufacturer. QuoteSayle Has anyone experience with Good Year Eagle F1 tires on their Boxsters? Thanks. I had the F1 Asymetrics on a 987 and they were good street tires; the rears lasted about 15K, but they were quiet, decent traction and good in the rain. The tire has been on the market for nearly 10 years--with a couple of revisions--and i think the latest from Continental and Michelin are better tires foby MikenOH - Main Forum
I'm guessing the set in 18" would run about $500 less the rebate. The reviews on this tires are great; I would have bought a set for the 981 had they the proper sizes. They do carry the 225/40/18--265-35-18 sizes.by MikenOH - Main Forum
Quotegrant both require expensive trips to the doctor as they age, and leave fluids on the floor. But we love them both dearly, except when we are exasperated. :-) Grant Spot on--and funny! My wife laughed out loud when I read that to her.by MikenOH - Main Forum
Terrific looks, comfortable, fast enough to be entertaining and it handles like a dream. It sounds like you've had good luck with the Turbo to this point, but it is a complex car and the repairs can get uber expensive. I know test driving a Porsche is a lot like looking at puppies(for us)--after driving it, you have to take it home---but my suggestion would be to take out for a long drive (ifby MikenOH - Main Forum
Here's one" Sebro has a good reputation as does Zimmerman. I wish I could replace a front rotor on ours for $100.by MikenOH - Main Forum
Great news, Grant. Glad to hear the car is running well and getting sorted out for track duty. Given the bump in HP and figuring it's a bit lighter than it was new, it should be quick enough to be very entertaining at the track.by MikenOH - Main Forum
I've used the RS-29 pads (F&R) for the past 4 years on a 981BS. No issues with braking as far as balance or fade. I understand some go with blacks on the rear since the friction coefficient is a bit higher (IIRC) on the blacks. One concern has been with blacks is that they wear the rotors more rapidly than the yellows. The Yellows are very easy on rotors--I still have the OE rotors on the rby MikenOH - Main Forum
QuoteRoger987 I'll never tire of GT Silver. To my eyes, it's the perfect silver, and silver so perfectly suits Porsche sports cars. Exactly; the color absolutely pops in in bright sunlight and has so much more depth than other silvers by various car makers.by MikenOH - Main Forum

That's a good line, Guenther, "from the lot to the road". There are a lot of things that could have contributed to the 718 fall off in sales: - overall decline in automotive sales -higher prices for the 718, -change to four banger motor with "revised" exhaust note--to name a few. The 718, IMHO, is an excellent car for sure, but when prices get bumped significantly at a time when sales overallby MikenOH - Main Forum
Looks like the new Panamera saved the day; all other models were below their April 2016 levels--including the Macan.by MikenOH - Main Forum
QuoteGary in SoFL The difference in speed between the base and the S is mostly a figment of Porsche marketing and cost accounting imagination. The 718 manual sounds like a amazing Porsche that undoubtedly will 'catch on'. Primarily a driver's car, rather than a pampered, polished, back roads cruiser. The article's performance numbers were surprising--and no mention of lag. The S/manual Iby MikenOH - Main Forum
Heard a similar comment from a guy that had owned a 997 GT3 and moved to the 991GT3; he was faster for sure, but felt less engaged with the car while on the track.by MikenOH - Main Forum
Regarding the odor, did you change much--or anything-- with regards to the fuel system (injectors, TB MAF) or ECU?by MikenOH - Main Forum
QuoteNaples986 The support is due for renewal on my old radar and am wondering if it's better to get a new one. Thanks A few years ago I moved over to the WAZE app and in the areas I drive it works very well in alerting the driver to the presence of police radar/laser. It isn't perfect and you do need to keep you eyes looking at the forward horizon --and rear view mirror--for police, but to thiby MikenOH - Main Forum

QuoteMarcW QuoteMikenOH n/t Not that I can see. About the lowest 718 Cayman S price was $80K for I believe a car at Porsche of Marin which is north of the SF Bay Area. (I've never been to that dealer. The only one in the "Bay Area" I've not been to.) (As an aside because when I start searching for another car I like to keep a hard copy record of what I find and when and where and the prices I tby MikenOH - Main Forum

SUV and Pickup models overall continued to have gains. It looks right now--at least for NA--the Macan is the only thing keeping total sales above last year. Makes you wonder how long one model can keep picking up the rest of the product line, given the amount of competition in that particular market segment.by MikenOH - Main Forum
Down 25%+ YTD (Jan.-Mar.). Given the other poor sales months since the car was released, sales disaster might be a bit too strong of a description, but clearly this car is not doing well in the marketplace. Where does this go from here? Eventually, Porsche has to do something to pump sales up--a return NA flat six or a price cut?by MikenOH - Main Forum
