Not as much of an issue as it was a few years ago. Most shops are equipped with the proper equipment since so many cars wear larger wheels with low profile tires. I always ask, "Can you mount tires on my wheels without damaging them?" Get up-front w/mgr right away and tell him that is a concern. I've had good luck with the major shops in my hick town.by silverbox03 - Main Forum
OMG!! Haven't seen that cockpit in a while. I had a spyder for a while in the mid '70's, what a hoot. However, an ergonomic nightmare, ie.: pedals too close, wheel rather distant, but oh, what a ride. Love Alfas.by silverbox03 - Main Forum
Well, I sold my '99 for $19K late in '07. I had more than twice the miles and not near this equipment level. While the asking price here is rather lofty, I don't think $15K would be out of reach on this thing. I still think the early standard Boxsters are really sweet cars. I love my 'S', but there are a few qualities that the first cars had that are missing from the later cars, including the 'Sby silverbox03 - Main Forum
I've read enough of Marc's posts to understand that he takes proper care of his cars. I think driving style is so important, too, and I'll bet that one ride with Marc would speak volumes. I suspect he has his share of enjoyment while not having to wring every ounce out at each opportunity. Allowing proper warm ups without long idles, proper shifting, clutching, etc., and just having a good senseby silverbox03 - Main Forum
I really like the looks of darker colored wheels, especially that shade you chose, well done !by silverbox03 - Main Forum
The more I see of this animal, the more I am in love. I think design department stopped just in time. Not sure if the rear spoiler/tailight tie-in jives with the rest of the car, but it would not be a deal breaker for me. Well done, Porsche !by silverbox03 - Main Forum
I'd say this is the first major over haul since '97. It's said chassis is all new...hmmm. Looks more up scale and less pure sports car, so maybe there will be a new entry level car coming ?by silverbox03 - Main Forum
I think the new mirror mounts are intended to reduce wind noise at speed?by silverbox03 - Main Forum
Interesting thread. I've never been to Sebring. Up here we have Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI) and I remember some wild times back in the '60s and '70's(Yep, I'm old)when it was over-run by young people partying day and night--I was one of 'em. A big weekend for that was SCCA June Sprints, an event that still lives. Sadly, the trend seems to be one of declining attendance by younger people. Parby silverbox03 - Main Forum
I like it. Everything seems like a step forward. Sounds like the '4' will be a performer. Less weight, less emissions, better MPG's. Reviews of the new Z4 w/4cyl power have been favorable. Generally speaking, the newest German styling direction(most makes)is toward more flash or bling; and I am not sure if I like that. An extreme example is the 1M, and to a lesser extent, the new '3' series, asby silverbox03 - Main Forum
Yep, I think your right; it was the fact that the inlets were low on the body. Well, I hope this is the new 981. It sure looks more aggressive and exotic. When the 986 came out, as nice as it was, it was a little plain compared to the concept. And I would welcome a new smaller, lighter model below the Boxster, as well as a flat four in the Boxster. After all, it's Porsche's heritage, less is moby silverbox03 - Main Forum
I like most of what I see here, but I have my doubts as to the authenticity of these images. There's a lot of drama here for what is a lower end car for Porsche. At one time it was said that side vents as large as those on the original Boxster concept would be too impractical, and these are even more aggressive. However, if there is a new entry level sportscar on the way, they would probably moby silverbox03 - Main Forum
Most of the offenders know this, yet insist on being "ass-hats". There are laws against it in a lot of states. However, police seldom enforce them.by silverbox03 - Main Forum
Me too. I was here shortly after start up in the late '90's, now I'm a lurker. Still love the site(thank you Pedro!)and the people here. I spent too much time here(there) in the early days, didn't get much done some days. Can't remember exactly what my original user name was, probably a senior moment thing.by silverbox03 - Main Forum
I'd sure like to see USA make a comeback. Actually, I'm old enough to remember a time when the quality was quite good. 35 or 40 years ago, we would buy early sixties chevrolets to beat around in the winter, while the sports car was hibernating. Typically, they were really reliable.. In the '70's, the big three denied the potential of the imports. Management fought with the unions over the profitby silverbox03 - Main Forum

Ehh...don't underestimate that Miata. It can't keep up with a Porsche, but it's every bit as fun.by silverbox03 - Main Forum
