No oil on the floor today, let's see what happens after the next track event.by DFW02S - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro. What would cause that to go? Imbalance in the crankshaft?by DFW02S - Main Forum
Any experience with an oil leak coming from the motor mount area? The black plastic in the picture is toward the front of the car. Thanks in advance, Mikeby DFW02S - Main Forum
I have their short shifter and test pipes. I'm very happy with the quality and installation process. Saved 16 pounds off the back end of the car with test pipes instead of secondary cats! I usually contact George there, 214-629-1299. Mikeby DFW02S - Main Forum
My experience with this company has been very good. Bumperby DFW02S - Main Forum
No ground effects on the Lambo? Shouldn't the squirrel have been sucked up and spit out past the rear diffuser?by DFW02S - Main Forum
Street pads melt at the track? I've never seen it and I've had my rotors magma red at night events, no pad melting.by DFW02S - Main Forum
Laz nailed it. The R's provide greater surface grip, giving the anti-lock brakes the best feedback without lock up. Street tires have less friction and will trip the lock up sensor sooner, resulting in less control. Lewis Hamilton can deal with lock up, me ... not so much.by DFW02S - Main Forum
None. Best to run at least R compounds though. Street tires don't have enough grab to compensate for the brakes.by DFW02S - Main Forum
Thanks guys, brake fluid occurred to me based on the light viscosity. Guess I need to do the degreaser process.by DFW02S - Main Forum
It's a very light almost clear oil, one drop on the bottom of the shift mechanism. And a couple make it to the floor over a few days. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on where it might be coming from. Here it is on the floor.by DFW02S - Main Forum
I use XP-10's in the rear and XP-8's on the front. I felt the front had a bit more dive on heavy braking and thought using the grippier stuff in the back might level it out.by DFW02S - Main Forum
that way should something unusual happen like a lost or stolen passport, you can use the copy to convince the nice people at the US Embassy to get you home.by DFW02S - Main Forum
I'm not certain we're talking about the same thing. It seems to me that as soon as the engine is started, you have enough positive pressure at that point that nothing will enter. Even when you let off the gas the pressure will still force exhaust out of that hole. To me it looks like an integral part of the stock header, as if they intended putting an O2 sensor there, but didn't. I'll get underby DFW02S - Main Forum
Thank you Marc, I'm not sure that I can leave it alone!by DFW02S - Main Forum
There's a bolt at the collection point of the 3 pipes exiting the exhaust ports on the engine. Anyone know why the bolt exists? What happens if the bolt is removed? How does the car sound without said bolt? Thanks in advance for comments.by DFW02S - Main Forum
And I think he simply forgot to lift until it was in the dirt. It's not the first time I've seen it happen.by DFW02S - Main Forum
Having about 20 miles on it (talk about a small sample) I think you got it right and I should have taken the track version too.by DFW02S - Main Forum
And I love it! It definitely changes the shifting dynamics and that 3k shudder is gone. I also used his instructions for the mount and water pump and they were more detailed and more helpful than the other resource I had available. Well done Pedro, another happy customer!by DFW02S - Main Forum
I agree that slotted rotors are > cross drilled, especially if they are drilled holes and not cast. Over time I learned that drilled rotors really enjoy a good cool down lap, the longer the better. Here are my rotors after 14k miles which includes 1k track miles. Yes, they are outside of Porsche spec, but they looked like this for 4k miles and I had no problems at all.by DFW02S - Main Forum
I think yes, but I'm not sure there's a benefit because the front calipers on my 996TT seem to be the same as on my 986S. I can't speak with any surety about the rears. That's from memory though so don't bet the farm on it.by DFW02S - Main Forum
LOL! A fair point about the motor mount job. I wish that I'd read this post 3 hours ago. I got under there a couple of hours ago and looked at the water pump and hoses in the way and thought up half a dozen excuses why I will pay someone to do it!by DFW02S - Main Forum
