OK, I've got them down to $55,500 for 2013 black Boxster S with manual transmission, 20 inch Carrera Classic wheels, colored center wheel caps, seat ventilation, sport design steering wheel, Infotainment with Boxe and Convenience package. Sound like a good deal?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thanks again for some great insights. At this moment I'm still in discussions with the dealer, fingers crossed, hoping for a great deal. If we do come to terms, we won't be fleeing in a "new" Boxster. Love the dual trunk feature but it's just too small for all our stuff ... and we haul bikes.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thanks much! Very helpful advice. Next couple of days should tell the story on whether I take the next step. Will keep you informed.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Have seen a few base/S models available off-lease with 10,000-15,000 miles. Porsche Certified, and within my budget and the price ranges listed on KBB, Edmunds, NADA. Very appealing. However, we're planning to flee the Midwest this winter. Thus, the car would sit about three months before much actual use. From a cost/purchase standpoint, would it be better to act now, negotiate an "off season"by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
On a memorable evening in 1967, a lifelong seed was planted as a naive college student sat in a movie theater. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as the glorious sounds of a Formula One car jump-started John Frankenheimer's visually stunning ode to racing: "Grand Prix." Never mind the lame storyline. The student was hooked! A singular thought owned his brain: "Get me behind the wheelby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
For the record, I talked to the service manager this morning. The oil/filter change will be done after the high-pressure injector cleaning.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Yes, Marc, Lujack's is also an Audi dealer. I'll be talking to them tomorrow. And thanks!by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Before authorizing the recommended service, I spoke with a sales rep. just to see what he had to say. Predictably, if unfixed, they would only offer $4,000 on trade-in, or $8,000 if fixed. Even the sales rep. agreed that would be a lousy deal. However, just to keep my options open, I told him to look for a 2010 or newer Boxster or slightly older Carrera cabriolet ('06 or newer) within a certain pby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum

Really appreciate everyone's comments. As a follow-up, we now have a diagnosis from Lujack Porsche--and it's nothing catastrophic. Bad coils causing the flashing CEL and the coolant tank is leaking (thus, six new coils and a new coolant tank plus 60,000 mile maintenance with brake fluid exchange, fuel injection service, serpentine belt replacement, filter replacements (air and cabin), and fix inoby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thank you Jay and Marc! Sounds like solid advice. This board is a treasure. For the record, European Motors would charge about $250 to $350 for compression and leak down tests, then go from there at their hourly rates ($98 an hour labor). Lujack Porsche would start with a one-hour diagnosis ($160 per hour labor), then proceed from there. If necessary, compression and leak down tests would costby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Please bear with me. A bit of history might explain my dilemma: In August 2006, before paying $14,500 for a 2000 Boxster with 21,000 miles on it, I visited this board for advice. It seemed like an almost "too good to be true" price for the car, which was in a bank's possession. We received lots of great "yes" and "no way" feedback from this board, for which I am eternally grateful. At the time,by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
This view shows the two cable sleeves, one white and one black, and the broken cable, plus the metal bracket hiding the rest of the white plastic doohicky. I've contacted the body shop for the correct name but haven't heard back yet.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
First, you only have the "doohicky" if your key fob electronically activates the trunk latch. Do you have this optional feature? If you don't have this feature, then you must have the emergency cable release instead (the one hidden behind the rear bumper). Having said that, the body shop did all the work. First they removed the bumper and used a special tool to release the latch and open the truby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
In the interest of helping anyone else who might experience my particular problem, I am going to clarify my original post about a broken rear trunk release cable on a 2000 Boxster. After taking my car to a local body shop, it turns out I do NOT have an emergency release cable, per se (one that emerges behind the rear bumper, as often described). Why? Because my Boxster has an optional feature thaby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
One other thing while we're at it (assuming the emergency cable is really the answer to my particular dilemma). Your photo suggests that access to the emergency release cable requires removal of the rear bumper. I thought I had read somewhere that you could find the emergency cable by removing the left rear wheel and a section of plastic wheel well. That would seem easier, at least for me, than rby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Pedro, thank you so much. However, I'm still not sure I understand. Are you saying the emergency cable is not in any way linked to the manual release cable (located under the door sill) or the electric cable (activated from the key fob)? Is this emergency cable essentially a THIRD cable for releasing the rear trunk? If so, to what is this emergency cable connected or how does it work? I only sawby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
This one hurts so bad I could scream. I have a 2000 base Boxster. While trying to repair a broken trunk release cable (the one activated by the key fob) I disconnected the other cable--the one operated by the pull handle under the driver's door. You guessed it--I proceeded to accidentally shut the rear trunk. Now what do I do? Neither cable is connected to the trunk release mechanism. I understanby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Update: My mechanic tells me it's NOT the secondary cats but rather the primary cats (affixed to the headers) that are cracked. He's going to price OEM new versus sport headers with sport cats and we'll go from there.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
I'm debating whether to purchase a used set from an 03 (thanks to another poster on this board!) or possibly replacing them with sports cats. Where can one find a set of Fabspeed cats in the $225 range?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Anybody else care to comment?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thanks for the advice. I'll certainly ask about the possibility of welding. And if that fails, it may indeed be a sign! - Seriously, what WOULD a whole new exhaust system with headers and a sport cat plus secondary cat bypass sound like? I'm a daily Boxster driver with a wife who enjoys quiet evening trips out into the countryside. Would this investment stir my own daily driving passions or woulby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
In the process of changing the oil and replacing the starter, my mechanic noted that BOTH cats on my 00 Boxster are cracked at the flange. Said the problem is fairly common in Boxsters. He suggested replacing them--not necessarilly right away but sometime fairly soon--at an estimated labor cost of $300. How common is this problem and does his price seem reasonable?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Wow, these answers are very helpful and a bit unexpected. Thanks everyone! I had thought more people would favor the "S" but the arguments for the base--in this case anyway--make sense. As a next step, my wife joined me for another look (her first) at the 08 today. She seemed to like it but was noncommittal beyond that (I know better than to buy a car without her complete and full blessing -. Anyby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
I'm interested to hear what Boxster owners think about this choice as I contemplate upgrading from my 00 base Boxster (I am drawn to some of the improvements made in the second generation Boxster plus the heated seats, Xenons, glass window, and power seat adjustments). Beyond similar options, both cars feature fairly similar miles (29,000 on the 06 S and 42,000 mostly highway miles on the 08 baseby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
