What design should I use? The traditional (original) frame design or the frameless curved design? I have to admit that I don't drive the Boxster much in the rain. Only if caught in it by accident.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

This is the driver's side cover for the side view mirror controls. Mine has the rear tab broken. Part # 986-555-651-00 which applies for 986 models 97-04. Black/charcoal color. I am willing to buy. I am located in California. Parts picture Thanks.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
If I push the interior latch flush and close the door gently, the alarm will not beep. There is a You Tube video where a guy shows how to replace the spring (BeatTheBush DIY). He had the same symptoms as mine I am going to try that. So, the return of the door latch is an alarm sensor monitor point?by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
The other day I pulled the door latch to exit the vehicle. When I did that, the interior latch did not act as usual (I may have heard a breakage noise). The latch does not have a taught dual action anymore and the interior latch does not return to its flush position and instead is about 1/2" away from that flush position. All driver's side only. If I pull on the latch slowly, the window will drby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

They had no time to evacuate, many were seniors. Some trapped in their cars as they fled. The whole town is destroyed. Catch 22 on the rain. Heavy rain now may quench the fires, but that means mud slides similar to happened in Montecito.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Except this time I was again able to take Coast Highway. The road has been closed for 2 years due to a bridge collapse in Big Sur and a 1/4 mile rain induced landslide near Gorda. A great drive, especially when top down for 200 of the 350 miles. Lots of twisties too.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

I overheard a young lady saying that she would never take this scary road. Moments earlier, I saw the pic and thought, what a great road to drive the Boxster on. Different strokes for different folks! Sorry about the photo quality. The overhead lights and cover glass sheen prohibited a better representation. Anyone ever been on this road?by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
He won't have that GT4 for long. He drives like he is trying to set a lap record. Hard to do when there are a lot of other inexperienced drivers on the track.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I spoke to a new 718 owner. He was quoted $1200 for an oil change on his. Holy moly.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Good news. I have been very worried the last few weeks, since my registration postmark is due on 4/2/18. Based on Marc's recommendation, I used the new 2 spare O2 sensors and I bought 2 more (post-cat). I had my mechanic install them. He reset the OBD memory and after 3 or 4 cold start & drive cycles the secondary readiness cleared (That and the catalyst remained after a 1 or 2 drive cyclesby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I had a P1118 and did not replace the O2 sensor (bank 2, driver side, post-cat) about 1550 miles ago. I cleaned the MAF, replaced the air filter and reset the memory. CEL never returned, but I have not checked the readiness since then. Reading more about it, I probably should have replaced the O2 sensor back then due to the readiness issue. I have 2 spare new pre-cat O2 sensors. I believe that tby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Try cleaning the contacts on the micro switch. I once had that issue and the mechanic cleaned the contacts on the one located in the center console at the handbrake. Solved the problem without replacing the part.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
000-043-305-49 (At Sunset in Portland area). $28.14/liter plus shipping. Pelican has it at 999-917-546-00, $35/liter plus shipping and tax. I would change it myself, because I have an oil pit. But, I tried to take off the diagonal plate before and the nuts were too tight to remove (installed with an air impact gun?). Plus, I understand that you have to have the wheels off the ground to not affecby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
OK, I found the newer part number, 000-043-305-49 from Pelican Parts (1 liter bottle for $35 plus shipping). I need to confirm with the indie that this is the right/same product. Does anyone know the oil capacity of the transaxle? I see a technical article where someone used 3 liters, but my indie told me 6 (off the top of his head?).by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I have ~109K miles on it. On cold mornings (50s), the first few shifts from 2 to 3 are not always compliant. I can go back into 2nd and try again successfully. I took it in to my indie and he suggests the oem Porsche gear oil (000-043-204-71, may be superseded with a newer version). He only had 1 liter in stock and he would have to buy 20 liters at $800 to get it. He doesn't need 20 liters, onby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Thanks for all the assistance over the years. Enjoy your new cars! I hope you check in and comment every now and then. Tonyby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I havent checked recently (before going to 91). My mileage (mixed, but mostly stop lights in the city) is typically 16 to 17. I will check at next fill up and compare. Long trip freeway has been ~24 to 25.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
When I was at TBHL in Vegas a few years ago, a group of us went out for a drive. I left the parking structure, sat in traffic for 5 to 10 minutes. The road pavement was hot, the tires had not reached operating temperature. I took a right turn at low speed and the back end came around. Luckily I didn't hit anything. Add to my list of experiences.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I have been filling up with 87 octane fuel for a few years now. Totally due to the price of 87 octane as compared to 91 octane price. Well, the 91 octane price was a bit lower recently (at least a month ago, prior to the new 12 cent gas tax increase). So, I decided to see how much of a difference going back to 91 octane would make on the engine. Didn't realize how huge a difference in power and rby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
The fan is a Spal pusher. It is a plastic bodied fan mounted on the front metal rim of the oil cooler (ahead of passenger side front tire). The air flow is toward the rear. I don't remember the exact model or size, but between 5.2" and 6.5" (from Spal website). Control is only from the switch or relay. No temperature control, unless it is an internal motor circuit. Will that motor have it? I doby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I have a relay in the circuit.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I installed an in-dash switch to manually control an oil cooler fan on my 88 911. It is a simple on and off switch wired to a fuse block and a relay before the fan. The switch and fan have worked great (for 24 months or so) when the car is cool and the engine is off. But lately, when I press the switch and the engine is starting to get hot (driving in stop and go traffic), the fan does not alwaysby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

About 4K miles on it in 20 months. Bosch group 48, 760 cca (OEM spec. 690). Always used a trickle charger. No warning signs. Spirited driving on the day with temperatures near 100 degrees F. Pulled over to access front trunk, stopped the engine, then wham. No juice. Windows cycled partially up, trunk pulls locked, lots of clicking and buzzing. Got a jump from AAA and drove straight home, no inby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
