Congrats to 25 years of the Boxster! I don’t have mine anymore, but remember how fun it was!by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
If you checked the oil level with the dipstick and it’s good, maybe it’s a problem with the oil pressure sending unit?by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
True, but thinking about what a mess the cleanup would be after using that goop even if it works, I think I’ll just use the plug kit instead if I end up with a flat.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I got the tire plug kit after I saw this video from Nick Murray where he tried to use the Porsche goo and it failed miserably. Lol.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I’ve never checked mine. Thanks for the reminder. I keep a plug kit in the car just in case too.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I thought it’s a slightly altered PDK unit made into a manual but still has shift cables linked to the shift knob. Maybe I’m wrong.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
For a manual that negates the need for adjusting or having shift cables that break and leave you stranded. Just shift into the desired gear and computer knows which gear you are trying to select. That would be cool. Smooth shifts, no balking when cold, etc, and perhaps even prevent you from over rev by accident if it knows you are selecting the wrong gear. Wonder why they haven’t made that yetby CarreraLicious - Main Forum

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Thanks, I guess the new knob is slightly larger than the original due to the leather inserts protruding out a bit. After driving with it for a while now, I must say I like it a lot more than the stock knob that is too light. I like the heftier and solid feel of the aluminum one. Also, I will end up installing the handbrake. Have a buddy who has already replaced the handbrake before in his car whoby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterra though I prefer to keep my passengers wondering what gear I'm in I like the look of the pattern in the knob but also prefer whoever is driving the car (if not me) to know what gear is what. Lol.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
That’s pretty cool. I like the look with the shift pattern on the knob though, so would probably add that.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterra I had a nice metal-knob shifter and found it often got too hot to touch (parked car, top up). I eventually tired of having to wrap a towel around it to get started and took it out. I hear ya. I also had an aluminum knob in my Boxster, and noticed it did get hot too at times when parked, but it didn’t bother me enough to remove it. I will live with it cause I like the look and feeby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Thanks, I have a friend who has done the handbrake swap before already so he said he’d help me do it. I will wait til next spring probably. Will keep my driving gloves handy in the glove box in case it gets too hot. LOL.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I have a cab. I don’t usually park it with the top down so not that worried but I am a little worried about the handbrake handle as I usually rest my hand on that I’ve noticed. Not fully decided if I will install that part now though but probably will.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Quotefrogster don't wait. install the brake! otherwise it will be one of those nagging things that hangs over your head forever. i put a short shifter in my MY2000 boxster and loved it. maybe you should do that since it will spur you on to doing the brake handle. Thanks...yeh, I am still on the fence of installing the brake handle to be honest though because as nice as it looks, I’m not sby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Ha, thanks G. I guess gifts to myself don’t warrant one.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Been eying this X97 aluminum and leather shift knob for a while. It’s cheaper to buy it with the handbrake as a combo rather than getting the knob alone. Guess I’ll install the handbrake one day if I get a short shifter or have to replace my cables. Fits on 911, Boxster and Cayman with 6-speed. It’s heavier than the standard knob. What do ya think?by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Glad to hear you got it fixed. Wish you many more years of enjoyment of your Porsche!by CarreraLicious - Main Forum

QuoteSayle I have decided to have the local Porsche dealer solve this problem and I have an appointment this coming Wednesday. I hope they can get the trunk lid open. What an avoidable mess!!! I will let you folks know how things turn out. Thank you for your suggestions and a big thank you to Pedro. They will do exactly as we described so you won’t have to go thru any trouble or headache.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Yes, pull the left front wheel liner to access the pull chord. If you don’t have the security lock for the wheel bolt, you can borrow the dealership’s security bolt key (they have all of them), but you’d have to get your car to the dealer. Or, you can destroy it like Pedro said, to get it out.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
The easiest thing to check first is your fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay. If you open the cover to the fuse box (foot well near where your dead pedal is located), there should be a folded paper behind the cover which shows the fuse and relay locations. If those are good, then you have to investigate other items which could be a crankshaft position sensor, fuel pump, clogged fuel filter (rare),by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
