why not buy a charger yourself? they are very inexpensive. i got a low power one on sale and it was probably less than a garage would ask to charge a battery.by frogster - Main Forum

QuoteJMstamford,ct I will state that on the one occasion that my battery was totally dead, the front truck could not be opened from the latch on the driver's door. I was surprised at the time, but using the bar in the fuse box was easy enough. It popped almost right away. that's strange. i assume it was a mechanical lever and not like a power window switch since it was a MY2000. i seem to reby frogster - Main Forum
QuoteAndyInNYC I don't think any part of my latch/cable to the front trunk is electrically operated. That's part of what I'm trying to confirm (now with conflicting comments). exactly. on the MY2000, both front and rear trunks were mechanically operated with the steel cable that i refered to. i believe this was changed in MY2001 but i don't remember if it was to two electrically operated latcheby frogster - Main Forum
QuoteAndyInNYC I'm going away for a 5 day trip and will park my 2000 at the airport with the alarm on. *If* the battery goes dead, can I still open the door lock via the key on a 2000 with a dead battery? *If* I can open the door, does the front trunk pull also work without any battery power? QuoteGuenter in Ontario Without ICE intervention, it would limit me to trips around our neighborhood. and in the winter, it would have to be a very small neighborhood! the second gen tesla roadster will likely weigh over 4000 lbs and it will supposedly do 0-60 mph in 1.9 sec. actually i think a roadster will feel very much like a mid-engined car. the battery pack, which is where a lot of weight is, will be situated in the floor pan so super low. the electric motors on EVs are very small and light compared to the boxster's flat 6. no radiators, no fuel tank, tby frogster - Main Forum

Quotedb997S Interesting, the Chinese government taxes cars based on displacement. So, Porsche created a 300hp, 2.0 liter engine for its China market. Baby 718 Spyder most countries in europe tax on displacement and/or horse power. road taxes in switzerland go up very progresively, not linearly. i.e. a 2 liter car is x, a 3 liter car is 2x. that's why everyone drives diesels. i don't rememberby frogster - Main Forum

the de-snorked sound is more of an intake sound than an exhaust sound. it's easy to tell where it comes from (driver's side air intake) the closest thing i can think of is the sound of V8 engine with the air filter removed so you could see the carburetor and somebody stomps on the pedal. it's a heavy intake sound with a huge volume of air. could you have gotten a hole in your muffler or pipes sby frogster - Main Forum

does he need an ashtray? i replaced my ashtray way back in the day with the open box, cubby hole piece that fits there instead of the ashtray. ok, that would still require purchasing the piece but it's simple and just pops in and is held down with a screw under the rubber mat IIRC.by frogster - Main Forum

QuoteTheFarmer This attitude ("I'm just not ready for that kind of devotion yet") is very understandable. We grew up worshiping noise, smoke and petrol. But YET is the key word! QuoteGuenter in Ontario A large proportion of car manufacturers are charging into electric car development. But, buyers don't seem to be sharing in that enthusiasm. Quotedb997S Yup, they are developing synthetic fuels that are as clean or cleaner than electric. but we haven't heard anything about what those fuels will cost. my guess is that it will be incredibly expensive otherwise we would be going down that road. it will be a very difficult task to produce a fuel with the energy density of gasoline.by frogster - Main Forum
