I have always been a sports car enthusiast and fan. I admired a friend’s early 924. I got to drive a 928 to the market once. A car pool friend owned a 914 that he drove to work. He let me once drive it on our way back home on a twisty residential road around the Rose Bowl. That hooked me on Porsche. My first sports car was a 1971 240Z. I put over 200,000 miles on it before I grew tired of it.by Tony in Whittier - 10 years of PB

a manual shift. He made a lot of the physical changes and Mike took the gearbox to a racing shop that modified the shift mechanisms from electronic to manual control. They also had to re-flash the ECU. Ant stated that BMW uses the same gearbox (with factory modifications) for a manual vs automatic shift preference. But, of course they found a few other things that were bad. The coolant system bleed valve had severe corrosion on it (see pic). They recommended replacing that with the coolant reservoir. Then, when the system was pressurized, the passenger side radiator leaked liked a sieve. The conclusion was that the new increased pressure caused borderline pin holes to open up more. Bad news, the price triplby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

There is a build up of corrosion or some sort of alkaline/coolant deposits on the bolt and the end of the coolant pipe. Is this on the water pump attachment bolt? Is this a sign of a problem with the water pump? How soon do I need to get this addressed? Thanks. 2000 Boxster S. ~67K miles on the motor.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
My key battery was getting weak, so I replaced with one as specified in my owner's manual. 2 days later it won't remotely lock and unlock the car. The red indicator light is dim or not at all. This same thing happened about 2 months ago and I replaced the battery then too. This happened to both of my keys. Also know that I am unable to fully close the compartment on both key pods. I took the Boxster out to clean out all the cobwebs. I drove out and up Azusa Canyon, an area of gentle twisties. She ran awesome, an usual. About 2 hours round trip from my home. Yesterday, a week later I fired her up again to get some groceries. When she started, I heard a rod like clunking noise that disappeared after 20 seconds or so. I assumed it was a stuck lifter and commonplace? She ranby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Is the $20 worth the argument and losing a shop that you like? Assuming it is close to you, now you will have to find a different shop farther away? You lose in that equation. Pick your battles? I would certainly bring it up and mention that this could mean that you take your future business elsewhere. Then see how they respond and if they appreciate your business. 2004 Tacoma. I got a CEL the other day. First in 16 years on this vehicle. When I ran the scanner, there were no DTCs. But, there were 4 readiness exceptions (C, EV, OH and O systems). The vehicle always runs great. Made sure the gas cap was tight and reset the memory. I figured the gurus here would have some comments. Thanks.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Before spraying the cleaner, when I removed my key, the radio stayed on. The warning chime also played. I could only lock the car using the exterior key slot. When I did that, the alarm system did a beep. My ignition switch did not make a mechanical clunk sound. Now the mechanical clunk sound comes back regularly, sometimes faint. It is getting better every day. I can now lock or open the trunksby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

Normally the switch making a clicking sound when I remove the key. Now, there is no click. The car runs great, no starting problems. Is this a warning sign of an eminent failure? Thanks. Tonyby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I currently have 18" Bridgestone SO4S , which I like. But, they wear out so fast (10k to 12k average on the rears ) I am considering Kumho Ecsta PS 91, which have similar wear, temperature and traction ratings. I have Kumhos on my other car and I like their performance (different size). Does anyone have these Kumhos on their Boxster? Comments welcome.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

I get a recurring CEL for aging sensors. I have replaced all 4 O2 sensors and cleared the code several times. I have trouble getting readiness on SA and catalyst. This time catalyst is not ready. I have a year before my next smog check. I know how to get immediate readiness for the smog check, but don't want to do it unless I am going in for the check. I am sure the CEL will resurface. I hope that that process was not too expensive. For your window drop problem, I believe you have an issue with the door latch micro switch. I had that same problem 4 years ago and had it replaced. Confirm with the board gurus.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
