I had forgotten that Buffum had stuffed an Audi factory-owned Sport Quattro. As for my ride in a Sport Quattro, I recall going 145mph down the front straight at Brainard. The car porpoised around quite a bit. A few years later I got a ride in Steve Beddor's 911 Pike's Peak car and did 165 down the same straight. Totally controlled.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum

Hard top helps. You can go through powered snow that is 1 to two inches deeper than the ground clearance. You probably could go through more but when it got deeper than that I switched cars.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum
Never did hold a full charge after that. I bought a CTEK on amazon.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum
I have a 1997 993 twin turbo and I would guess that if you drove it you would find it quite dated. It is fast but the gear spacing is much wider than in a Boxster or 997. As John recommended, find one, drive it and then decide. I would not want to be driving my 993tt as my daily driver. If you enjoy your Boxster I'd say drive an "S" and see if that meets your needs. Pelican rates that task - oil and filter change - at 6 out of 10. I've done it and they're right.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum

I remember my 1968 Chrysler 300 backup lights - they were like mini-headlights and did a good job of lighting up whatever was behind me.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum
Also, there has been a lot of talk here about replacing the front motor mount. I, too, have a 2000S with 54K miles and am not satisfied with the precision and effort necessary to work the shifter as well as the quality of the linkage. Mine appears to require 1) a warm tranny, 2) shifts made at a certain pace and 3) a precise and firm shift. No where near as fun as all of my other cars, namely,by MarknearChicago - Main Forum
Happened a bunch of years ago to my old 1997 Box. If you take out the seat and disconnect the wiring DO NOT turn the ignition on.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum
It is such a messy job that it is just easier to take off the shafts and work on them in the basement. When I wrench my car is on jack stands. Its not comfortable doing anything underneath the car. When I did the axles I also did the front mount change, coolant change and oil change. As far as the exhaust goes, I disconnected the cat by the muffler (slide clamp) and at the exhaust pipe (2 boltby MarknearChicago - Main Forum
I bought my 2000S a year ago with 48K miles. When I got it it had rebuilt 1/2 shafts in it already. At 52K one outer boot ripped. I removed and rebuilt both 1/2 shafts. No problems to date and I don't expect any. I believe I picked up the boots etc from ebay.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum
I haven't done it in a while but you need to wash the car first. Then the "spritzy-stuff" is sprayed on the car (panel by panel) and the clay slides on it. Have no spritzy then do no clay. I never had a problem. The clay seems to knock off the crud that sticks to the paint and soap does not wash off. So far I've avoided waxing anything for 3 years - maybe I'll wax something next yeby MarknearChicago - Main Forum
At my WallyMart they only have the 5W-40. Just put it in my Boxster and soon it will go in my 993tt. BTW I've used Mobil1/Delvac1 for over 30 years - all with no problems Mark near Chicagoby MarknearChicago - Main Forum
Found an interesting problem with my new to me 2000 Boxster S. The radio worked fine except no sound from rear speakers. I'll leave out all the intermediate steps I went through. The cause was that when the car was built, the assembler in Finland trapped the rear speaker cable between the roll bar mount and the body. When the 13mm nuts were tightened down it mashed the cable so hard 2 of the 4by MarknearChicago - Main Forum

I seem to recall that Porsche had a problem with its chain tensioners on the 911 engines. It finally fixed the problem in 1984, 16 years later (?). The solution worked quite well. I still wish I had my '84 White, Can can red, Carrera but I'll just struggle along with my 993tt. Give 'em some time. BTW, I have no fears with my 2000S. Hi, Last January I sold my one owner 1997 Boxster as a trade in on a 2000S. Didn't want to go newer for a variety of reasons. First problem found was a balky shifter. The last S I drove had silky smooth shifting and my '97 was pretty good too. I did the gear oil change using P-car gear lube. No change! I decided to go look at the shifter. I took out the console and removed the add-on extby MarknearChicago - Main Forum
I selected the colors and options early in 1997. As I recall it was built in May and delivered in late June or early July. Just got rid of it this January. Traded in on a 2000S 6sp. in very good shape - no paint work that I could find - and loaded with many options including factory installed Litronics and 25,000 less miles. At a price of $16K and $8K for mine, no way I couldn't do the sale.by MarknearChicago - Main Forum
