I had the same oil leak on my 2001S. When I took it to the dealership and showed it a couple of the mechanics, they said they just fixed one with the same leak. That Porsche didn't make a repair for that seal and you need a new transmission bell housing, at the time $850. I got them to fix it under the warranty even though I was just a couple of months out of warranty period. Haven't had the probby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
Does anyone have a picture of one on a Boxster. I'm considering getting one for my 2001S.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
That is what I got from the dealer attached to my keys. I'm glad I didn't throw them away. Thx boxsterra.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
Does anyone have a picture of what one of these tags looks like? Just wany to check it with tags I have with my keys that have a 986.xxx.xxx.xx number and a bar code.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
Did you lift the clam shell all the way up vertically to give you more space to work? I need to do this job, but am somewhat torn on if to pay someone to do the work.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
So I'm more interested in what fishing you do? Do you do any bass fishing, or do you do mostly off shore stuff? What kind of boat do you have? I have been using the Porsche Original Teile - Genuine Parts Charge-o-Mat 000 043 202 56. Output 12V-DC/500mA. I have been using it for approx 15 years without any problems.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
The smoke from the Camp fire is being blown straight into Lake county, Clearlake. You cannot even see the hills on the other side of the lake, the smoke is so bad. There has even been a moratorium on insurance companies issuing new home owners policies due to it being a high fire area. So if you are trying to sell your house, you cannot because you cannot get a loan without insurance. I count myby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
OK, Done. The expensive bulb was $32, but the cheaper one was $18. THXby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
Thx Pedro, The light is out and the wires aren't stiff or anything like that. Does the bulb come out of the socket or is it one piece? Can I get one at Auto Zone? I wish I lived next to you so I could come over when I had problems. We did meet once when you flew out to CA for the last Babblers event in Tahoe many years ago.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I need to replace a bad fog light bulb on the front passenger light. I did replace the one on the driver's side some 10 years ago. So I pulled the headlight assembly and opened the round access opening. But, for the life of me I don't remember how to get the light fixture out. Can someone clue me in? Thx.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
So I finally got around to looking at this issue. This is after the weather cooled some and the smoke from the nearby fires finally cleared some. This was the Mendocino Complex fires in CA. I live in Clearlake. Anyway, I took off the 2 wheel wells and started to get ready to take off the front bumper cover. I did tighten any hose clamps I could get to at this point. I then got the loaner kby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I was watching a video last night that helped a lot. 1: I decided to go with the Porsche AOS. 2: I saw a hint about opening the clam shell all the way up that gives you a lot more room to work. The guy had a blanket on the trunk and was laying on it to do a lot of the work. 3: I didn't know about getting the hose clamp with the plastic tab that holds it open. I have a 2001 BoxsterS with approx 59K miles on it. I am taking the car to my independent mechanic to replace torn CV boots. I was thinking about having them do the AOS too as a preventative measure. Since I think I'm close to the point of just waiting for it to go bad. I'll have them do it if it's not too expensive or I'll bite the bullet and do it myself. I have a couple of questions. 1: Whatby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I only have 58K miles on the car. It's been garaged for 100% of it's life. I've had the front radiator grills on the car for 15 years or so. If I recall, the ones mad by Eric the plug guy. They work great in keeping debris out of the radiator area. So much so, that I haven't ever found enough stuff to vacum out. Maybe some small amount of small gravel. Anyway, I'm not sure running the car tby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I didn't have the AC on at any time, so I don't think it is that. I did think of that already, but the fluid smelled like coolant. I'll be pulling the front bumper cover as soon as it cools off some. Expected 105F for the next couple of days. I am expecting it to be a small leak when the system is pressurized. I was trying to come up with a way to pressurize the system without starting and rby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I have a 2001S 6speed. I did a 2 hour drive to see my mother. The temp was approx 80 outside and when I got there I parked the car on the drive way. I came out about 1/2hr later and noticed a wet spot in front of the driver's side front tire. It was approx a couple of dozen drops. I could smell it was coolant and also felt it with my finger. I checked later and it had stopped dripping and the wetby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
Can you not get a metal impeller water for the Boxster? I had a plastic impeller water pump go bad on my other car. GM updated the part from a metal one to a plastic one. I think the impeller didn't break apart, but was slipping on the shaft. Anyway, I replaced it with a metal impeller one and don't have to worry about blades breaking off and causing blockage. I would like to do the same on my 2by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
You might even look at Walmart. I recently tried Autozone, O'Reilly's and they were both way more expensive. Also, When replacing the battery, It's a good time to clean any corrosion found and pull the battery tray and clean out any debris plugging the drain holes, etc.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I returned the first battery thinking I had the wrong size. I went and bought the one from Walmart. Yes, I had the battery in the wrong way. The reason is Porsche had put a red mark on the ground where it bolts to the frame. I finally figured this out before I read Pedro's post. Thank god I didn't hook the battery up backwards. I've read about the problems that causes (ouch). I put a label on theby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
There is a guy (don't remember his name) here in Clearlake CA that went and bought an old fire engine truck from the Santa Rosa fire department. He would bring it the the weekly hangout for the car club and on parades. One of those - are you kidding me things?????by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I need to replace my battery on my 01S. My question is the one I tried from O'Reilly's is not long enough. I mean I put it in the battery tray and slide it over so the lip is holding it on one side, put the battery hold down bracket on the other side, but the negative battery cable won't reach the battery post. It is the same length as the last battery I had, but I don't remember if I only had itby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum

I think you should buy my used M030 struts/shocks. They only have 40K miles on them and 95% is freeway miles. They even still have the stickers on them. This is if you have the M030 springs though. I'm only asking $200 plus shipping. Let me know. My phone number is 707-994-2064. These are the ones I have advertised in the parts for sale forum.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum

OK, I got it. I did end up breaking the tab on the bottom corner of the rim piece, but will glue it back on when I put it back together. I was trying to avoid that, oh well. THX for your help.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
That is for a 987 which is different then the 986 rim and grill. THX anyway. Still looking.by Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
I'm actually looking for the instructions on taking the rim and grill off. I remember there is a trick to releasing the clips, but it's been years since I've done it. I tried searching other boards, but they all have links that are dead. Do you push in on it to release the clips? I remember there is a clip you have to be careful not to break. Please help in pointing me to the old instructions thaby Larry Nakamura - Main Forum
