You're right Laz, it's tires only - not wheels. I'd be putting them in heavy-duty bags. I wouldn't regard them nearly as worrisome as, say, standard pocket rivets in a pair of jeans. From the responses, I guess no one has tried this before. My best guess is two tires will likely fit. I've been buying tires from Tirerack for years - having them shipped to Maine saves considerably on shipping, tby Roger987 - Main Forum
Don't think I've seen this question posted before. Will two 235 width Boxster tires fit (not mounted) fit in the passenger seat of a 987, and leave room for me to shift gears? I'm en route to BRBS (currently in NC, where the temp yesteday was over 30 degrees C. Did you catch the Guenter? - it's toasty!) I may pick up some new PS2's when I cross the border back into Canada,by Roger987 - Main Forum
Wondering about the rules on posting. Are we permitted to mention here that we have an item for sale in "Parts for Sale"? My guess is there are many readers who read the message board daily, but rarely check the 'parts for sale' (I'm one of them).by Roger987 - Main Forum
I bought this EVO V-FLOW air intake for my 2005 Boxster when I bought the car, but never got around to installing it. It's a quality piece. I no longer need it, so it's for sale. Still in the original packaging - it has been out of the factory box only to take the photograph shown here. Installation is the same for both the Boxster and Cayman. DIrect from EVO, it's $349.00 plus shipping. I'mby Roger987 - Parts for Sale
Though I hate to think of it being a scratched-up lacrosse ball target. Sounds more like a job for anything GM built.by Roger987 - Main Forum
On the eve (not quite literally, but almost) of my departure on a 4 week road trip (incl. BRBS), I've signed up for CAA "Premiere' level. Includes 320 km flatbed, a trunkload of maps (I have NAV, but like the 'big picture' maps offer), a bonus 1 GB flashdrive and some other stuff, including 50's-style calendar with pin-up girls. Ok, joking about the pin-up girl calendar, but one can always dream.by Roger987 - Main Forum
The June edition of Excellence has the answer for you - the new Cayman R. They love it. Sell the Boxster and the 911. Buy the Cayman R. You'll have handling, power, reliability, fuel economy and reduced insurance rates, all wrapped up in a package you already KNOW you love.by Roger987 - Main Forum
My rear windscreen has been a source of irritation. To try to get rid of the rattling, I've inserted bits of felt etc. in all the right places, with no improvement. As best as I can tell, the windscreen isn't 'rattling'. Rather, the turbulence causes it to flex enough to vibrate, much like a string on a bass violin. The noise is produced not by rattling where the windscreen meets the roll-bar,by Roger987 - Main Forum
It might help get a break on the cost of towing, but probably not if you're a guy.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Thanks, Alex. That's the kind of info I'm looking for. Interestingly, FVD doesn't appear to offer sport cats or cat by-pass pipes for 2005+ models. Nonetheless, knowing they produce a quality product is very helpful.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Anyone have any experience with either of these two systems?by Roger987 - Main Forum

"I575 Luggage compartment cooling system " Hmmm... I'm pretty sure it's not in the rear trunk - that's where I warm up my Lean Cuisine TV dinners. Maybe they're referring to the front trunk safety latch - leave the trunk lid cracked open a bit while I drive?by Roger987 - Main Forum
By most accounts, the factory-installed grease doesn't remain in the bearing indefinitely, which certainly reinforces the importance of regular oil changes with the 'right' oil. The second part of that seems a bit tougher to determine definitively. I've switched to Syntec 5W40 but recent posts would suggest 10W40 might be a better bet, even though it's not a Porsche-approved oil.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Once again, it's not (just) the cars, it's the people!by Roger987 - Main Forum
Excellent write-up. Maybe some of us would hesitate to drop $3500 on it as an option on a new car, but down the road, we'll likely see PDK on used Boxsters for sale. Knowing it can be fun will open up a broader selection of used cars.by Roger987 - Main Forum
Thinking of spending a few weeks in Spain in June, and will likely rent a car while we're there. Nothing high performance - just something to get us from A to B economically, don't need much space (no kids). I welcome any tips - whether to arrange the rental here before leaving, recommended rental companies, insurance, whether the fancy VIsa credit card will cover the collision damage waiver inby Roger987 - Main Forum
Certainly when I was a teenager, the 2 stroke bikes were very quick. I recall for instance, the Kawasaki 500 and 750 triples. Lightning fast, but vibrated so badly the rider's feet would go numb in no time. The Yamaha RD350 was, and is, legendary. Kawasaki introduced the 900cc twin-cam 4-stroke, and knocked the king (the Honda 750 four) off the mountain. I think that was the beginning of the endby Roger987 - Main Forum
If you're inquiring as to why 2-strokes are no longer popular, notwithstanding their better power-to-weight ratio: 1. they pollute considerably more than 4 strokes; 2. they are less fuel-efficient; 3. they wear out more quickly; 4. they sound like two-strokes. At least that's how it was a couple decades ago. .by Roger987 - Main Forum
