This is a couple of minute video of one heck of a Porsche garage (10 cars and one tractor), complete with a service pit to work on the under side of cars, open loft to view the toys and a kitchen. I think it's bigger than my actual house. Porsche Palaceby db997S - Main Forum

Personally, if it was me, i'd spend the day, at the ballpark if the Tigers are in town. I also think I've heard that there is a Mortorsports Hall of Fame there. Dedicated to racing in America. But, to fill one day let alone 2 1/2 days in Detroit is not going to be too fun as it is probably one of America's fastest dying cities. Even before the auto industry went in the tank during the recenby db997S - Main Forum
I thought with older cars, it was better to use a heavier weight oil?by db997S - Main Forum
Unfortunately, some of that shorthand is ending up in dictionaries. So, it's becoming official. I saw a documentary on computer use in education (essentially multi tasking) and college professors at the top universities in the country are also complaining about how kids cannot write. They will write one paragraph or sentence, then answer some e-mails or post on Facebook, then come back to whatby db997S - Main Forum
This may not convince you, but with both my Boxsters ('98 and '02), my wife used to complain about getting in and out (she's young but has a bad hip). I got an '09 997 and the first time she sat in it, she said it was much easier to get in and out of than either of the Boxsters. I'm just saying, before buying a Toyota, you should tire kick a newer 911. Now, go out and buy a lottery ticket beby db997S - Main Forum

A Google News search for Porsche 961 will pop up some blogs/internet sites that have given some specifics, including this one site: 961by db997S - Main Forum

You can ask your dealer to activate the door locks. Also, since you have a '98, the onboard computer was not standard, but the hardware and software is there. If your outside temp is not displaying, you can ask the dealer to also activate that feature. Some may not do this for you, but back in '98, mine activitated both those features at no charge. If they give you a hard time, tell them it'sby db997S - Main Forum
Actually, locking the center console can be the issue. When I used to do this, the action of pushing the key into the hole unknownly can pop the lid open. So, if you do lock it, make sure you push down on the lid to ensure it doesn't pop up. If you aren't locking it and you still get the road runner beep beep, then before exiting the car, make sure that the lid is closed and latched.by db997S - Main Forum

The smell could have also been coming from one of the cars around you. One of the down sides to a convertible is that other smells and sounds seem to be more pronounced, especially when the top is down. There are times I'm in bumper to bumper traffic and i hear a noise from behind, such as a noisey belt. I, too, get that uh oh, feeling, only to discover, it's another car. Plus, those much talby db997S - Main Forum
As with any mechanic, or any professional for that matter, there are good ones and bad ones and many in between. They can all be found at both dealers and indy shops. The key, is finding the good ones and hope that they stay put.by db997S - Main Forum
I'm not a big fan of door-mounted side mirrors, either. Profile is a little 994ish/968ish looking, to me.by db997S - Main Forum
Well, like the Boxster, at least your new ride also corners like it's on rails That must be a huge adjustment in terms of commutes. Mine is 4 miles each way, well, every so often longer this time a year to help stretch out top down enjoyment.by db997S - Main Forum
That's actually fast. At the rate I driven my car, it'll take me 15 years to join the club, and mine's a daily driver, too.by db997S - Main Forum
Do your research. I've known some people with Minis who got rid of them due to reliability. They loved the cars, but it was getting to be too annoying. Mini may have addressed these issues as the years passed, or it may not have been a systemic issue and just a random thing with what I've heard. They are basically BMWs, so repairs are probably in the same class in terms of costs to repair.by db997S - Main Forum

Congrats. There was an article in last week's Toronto Star indicating that boarder sales/registrations are down 10%. They couldn't figure out why because the theory is they should be up (see your experience). They had a retired guy who saved $16,000 (CND?) on a used 911 (think it was also a 2008) he purchased in Buffalo, NY. He said it was real easy. I don't know what it is lately, but the last few months whenever I go to change lanes in my P-car, the gapper sees it, speeds up and then honks at me halfway through the change. It doesn't happened when I drive my wife's Prius, and I drive it the same way for commuting and errand running. So, it has to be the car. I easily see that I'm gaining on the car in the other lane and can easily make tby db997S - Main Forum
I was on a conference call and my TV was on mute so this was eye candy. Hard to concentrate on said call. They also got into the new ad campaign on everyday Porsche (snow mobile, pick up, get away car, school bus, etc.). The video is on CNBC's Web site: CNBC Video on Porsche Hybridby db997S - Main Forum
