Folks,

We're pleased to announce that for this year's Thursday Early Event, we're returning to

Thunder Valley -- The World's Fastest Half Mile . . . . .

BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY!

Two years ago, we stumbled upon this opportunity and had a rather serendipitous time on the track. Because of the small number of cars at that time, because we basically cut the lock on the track and got in (well, not quite), and because Wes looked the other way (which is exactly what happened), it was a very unstructured time on the track with no rules.

Now to accommodate so many people interested in this early event, we've made plans to return for a group photo, tour the Speedway and Dragway, have lunch in the luxurious Bruton Smith Suite, and then drive laps around the track.

BMS will use its pace car to take 10 cars out at a time for 5 brisk laps @ $25 per driver and $10 per passenger, and folks may make multiple trips. (We calculated at this rate you could race the entire NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Jeff Byrd 500 presented by Food City race for $5,000, a lot cheaper than what it cost Kyle Busch two months ago.)

The cost for the tour of the facilities and lunch is the actual cost charged us by the track of $30.00 per person. Please make your check payable to Karl A. Folkens and give it Karl, Ron, Mary or Nell at Bristol, or mail it in if you prefer to P.O. Box 6139, Florence, SC 29502-6139. Our Canadian friends know what they're to do.

We're continuing to negotiate the cost of the suite which will depend upon the actual number of attendees, but we'll absorb that cost. Because of our arrangement with BMS, everyone is required to pay for lunch and the tour, but your only cost will be for this lunch and tour plus the number of laps you choose to drive (and whatever you choose to spend in the souvenir shop).

At the end of this e-mail is a list showing those who have already indicated they will attend this early event.

What to do now:

Please e-mail us now and let us know if :

You're on this list and do not want to participate in the early trip to Bristol.

You're not on this list, have changed your mind, and now want to participate (and have already registered for the BRBS).

You're on this list, will participate in the Bus Tour and Lunch but do not want to drive the track.

If you don't contact us and are on the list below, we have you down as attending the early event, paying for lunch and the tour, and driving the track.

A very special thank-you to Hugh Tackett for helping us make this return to Bristol a reality this year and for opening his Garage Mahal for a tour!

For more details, visit the BRBS BMS webpage at [www.brbs.org]

If you have any questions, drop us an e-mail.

See you soon!!

Karl & Ron

Though I didn't go the last time, I've heard great things about it, so can't wait. Saving up my money in case I want to do more than 5 laps!

That's a slippery slope, Lorrie.

With Pedro it'll be:
Why not upgrade your brakes while we're upgrading your rubber
Why not upgrade to the Pedro exhaust to go with those better brakes
You really should upgrade your horns to the louders ones, with all that extra power
While we're at it..............

You get the picture. grinning smiley

Yikes! I wouldn't put real horns on you Boxster either, because then you'd also have to get matching seat covers, 22' blingy wheels and one of those car rattling stereo systems. grinning smiley

You should have seen this car, it had a tail and even made a mooing sound!
(Since it was a ChumpCar, I'm sure something on it was rattling.)
