I was fortunate to find 5 qt jugs of M1 0W-40 at Walmart for $26! I haven't seen it there in years. I changed the oil yesterday at 105,445. I was on the 15k regime through 90k, then I moved it up to 7.5k, but at this price and the 20 minutes it takes, I will maintain 5k intervals until I hit 1,000,000 miles. smiling smiley The oil and filter looked good with no obvious foreign content.

179 more oil changes. smiling bouncing smiley

Sounds like you have the right approach to reaching that 1,000,000 mile mark.

Here's the story of at least one Mercedes that went a million miles in 24 years. The secret, according to the owner - regular oil changes.

It's a '99, I bought it in '02 and yes, it's my daily driver, rain or shine. smiling smiley

Another example of how these cars that are used as DD's have great long-term reliability.
Stupid-durable, very low maintenance, and quite easy to work on in general.
or that's my finding so far.

With the locasil coating on the bores, these things should run 200k easy

Mines tight as a drum after 43k, including > 20 track days and several off-road excursions (using the grass makes the track wider, or so i figure)

The RMS is a non-issue. A few drops of oil.

The IMS can generally be mitigated for less than the cost of all the whining.

And i get an honest 25 mpg commuting.

I do take good care of the car however, including halving the oil change interval and using thicker oil when track use is expected.
