Boxster top problem
Clarkaddison - Thursday, 29 September, 2011, at 11:08:03 am
When I put up the top on my 06 Boxster, the plastic bead on the right side doesn't go into it's groove in the plastic window edge. I have to partially raise it and push it in place.

What sort of fix or adjustment is needed?
Are you referring to the tension cable?...

... if so, there's an elastic strap that's sewn onto the inside of the top which pulls the cable inwards.
This strap tends to lose elasticity and or sometimes just rips off the canvas.
You'll have to move the liner a bit to see the strap.
Once you find it check the other side and you'll see how it's secured.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

It's not the tension cable. It's the exterior canvas. It's supposed to fit into the plastic window frame. Instead, the one on the right side overlaps the window frame at the back end.

If that's confusing, I'll post a picture.
A picture would be great as it eliminates doubt. *NM*

I had the exact problem, but the fix wasn't what Pedro said. (Whoa, never thought I would disagree with THE Pedro!) Just fixed it last week, and wish I had taken pictures. There is a 6" peice of plastic, looks like the string from a weedeater. It fits into a groove on the horizontal pivoting plastic pice, mounted to the pivot point. I know that sounds confusing, but once you find the strip, you will see where it goes.
It was a bear to work it back into the slot, but once I got it in, it worked like a champ. Good luck!
I posted pics in March
