Under drive pulley
Larry G - Saturday, 1 October, 2011, at 4:29:05 pm
I have a 04 550 SE what are the positive and negative of installing the under drive pulley? Any brand better than another?
Is this a do it your self project or a mechanic?
Does Pedro make a larger throttle body for a 3.2 engine?
I am trying to get a little more power, I have already installed the Tecno Torque.

The underdrive pulley is generally installed to avoid boiling the power steering fluid during AX or DE when using stickies.
This smaller pulley will reduce the revolutions of the secondary systems run by the poly-ribbbed belt:
Air Conditioning Compressor, Power Steering Pump, Water Pump and Alternator.
To install it you need to grind down an engine marker, so generally cars under warranty can't have this done without losing warranty coverage.
There are no real downsides to installing it.
It is a DIY project for sure.

Pedro recently introduced the TechnoPower Kit for the '97-'99 Boxsters.
A kit for the '00-'04 2.7s and 3.2s is in the works.

Happy Boxstering,
Pedro
