Spring clip tool for AOS
grant - Friday, 7 October, 2011, at 2:15:15 pm
I plan to do my AOS sometime int he next X months. In Pedro's article, and others, he makes it clear that a remote spring clip tool is really helpful. There's a pic, but i want to make sure i get the right thing. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good, reasonably priced model, or do i just go into SEARS or NAPA and ask....

I bought one, in preparation for the the AOS failing someday....

I live in Canada, couldn't find one locally. Ordered one from ?babco tools? can't remember... was about $50. The handles are purple, can't remember the brand.

VW uses a lot of those spring clamps too....

ebay might be an option....

P
couple of options...

So its #1. I'm really looking for a suggested brand.model/URL. Sears has something very similar for $40. Seemed a lot, not certain its exactly right.

Thanks,

Grant
having done an AOS, whereas you have not...

the tough part is properly putting the clamp back on... not removal. Removal occurs easily w a pair of regular pliers, screwdriver or just cutting the bellows, as most do, and pulling the tube / prying upward.

Good luck w your AOS R&R smiling smiley

Works well. No need for pliers to be remote.
I have trusty Craftsman hose clamp pliers.

I guess I'm good!

Thanks

Grant. I think that is the one I have. Worked on the vw. Haven't tried it on the Porsche yet. ....
