I 'm thinking on buying a 2005..... 911, 3.6L engine to put in my 05 boxster s. Has anyone done this and if so was it a smooth transition? It's a OEM rebuild with 8,000 miles on it with an upgraded IMS. I was told that the only thing is that it will need is to reprogram the computer to run on the 3.6 program. My car has been in the my garage for two years with a blown IMS and I'm getting excited on the possibility of resurrecting it. My car only has 43,000Km on it and if the swap works it will be a cool ride with the added Horses.

The folks at Pelican Parts have this information:

According to them, the change should be (relatively) easy.
