Just getting into the Boxster universe with the hopes of investing in one sooner than later. Ran upon an old article in Excellence magazine from which I obtained the Subject line quote. The article is basically lauding a "S" vs base equipped 986. Not even sure what a "top headliner" is or if it's truly significant?? If it is, was it made part of standard models later on or always been exclusive to the S? Any additional info wanted...
Certainly since 03 they are on all 986s and 987s.

Welcome to the boxster universe. Its a great place to be.

Thanks! Seems like 2003 was a key year in the 986's evolution in so many ways...

... Was first introduces with the 2000 Boxster S, which was the first Boxster S.
From that model year on it's been standard in every Boxster (base and S).
Happy Boxstering

Our 01 base has the headliner, but it does not reduce much noise. The factory hardtop on the other hand, does make the car feel(and sound) like a different car(ie coupe). If you want a convertible, but want a coupe-like noise level for the rest of the year you don't have the top down, you might consider getting a hardtop for the car.
