Driver's Seat Removal
p-wagen - Friday, 30 December, 2011, at 5:45:18 pm
What is needed to remove the driver's seat on a '98 Boxster? Is it the four "six pointed" bolts holding the tracks to the floor? If so, what kind and size socket does it take? Also, is there a specific torque setting for the bolts when re-installed? I think I remember from an earlier post that the battery need not be disconnected when disconnecting the wiring under the seat and also to not have the key in the ignition when disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring. Do I remember correctly?

First you need to pull the seat rail covers. One plastic end cap on the front of each rail.
Move the seat all the way back and remove the front bolts.
The socket is an E-12 (it's an M10 x 20 torx bolt).
Move the seat all the way forward and remove the rear bolts.
Make sure the negative side of the battery is disconnected and the key is not in the ignition before disconnecting.
Tilt the seat back to have access to the connectors underneath.
Assembly is inverse.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro
