Door Speaker Rattling
cgeaves - Saturday, 7 January, 2012, at 9:31:19 am
on my 2001 Boxster S. I'm assuming it is blown.

Any quick tips on how to access it and if there is a standard after market speaker that will fit?

I know mine went out recently,
if it is the one in the door, it is the "mid-bass" speaker,
and when my passenger one went bad, I unplugged it and have not noticed a Major decrease in sound
(though it is noticeable)

Just remove the door panel, and it is easily accessable.
You can buy a new (or used) Nokia one (porsche OEM),
but replacing it with a regular speaker will require removing all of the factory stereo and upgrading.
(Or more to the point, you don't have to remove "all" of your factory stereo,
but your stock amplifier will not drive any regular speakers, and so you are looking at upgrading the head unit, amp, and speakers.)

It is the one in the door on the passenger side that has gone bad. I upgraded my amp to the 911 6 Channel amp a number of years ago but still have the factory head unit. Will that support a regular speaker? Can you give me any tips for removing my door panel?
