Need help!

I'm trying to diagnose CEL 1691 open curcuit and I have the instrument cluster out. How do I get to the CEL bulb to replace the bulb?

I'm assuming this is throwing the code becasue my CEL does not illuminate at all.

Thanks very much, need help fast!!

Got it!

Installed a known good bulb and CEL is now on. Will clear the code again and drive to the dealer to pick up some extra warning light bulbs. Had to steal one from another spot.

Hopefully code will stay off if that was it, otherwise it could be something more serious.

That code is usually because of a burned out CEL bulb so you should be all set *NM*

I replaced the bulb and passed smog. The code is an open curcuit CEL, and was in fact the bulb.

I ordered a few new bulbs from Pelican to replace two more that were out.
