I've read some very positive reviews of BMW"s new turbo 4 which is in the new 3 series as well as the 528. Today's turbos are an entirely new beast compared to the peaky engines of years ago. Lots of torque, and available at low rpms.
No doubt there will be some growing pains, but they're likely here to stay.
