I finally mustered up the fortitude to do it...
Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Wednesday, 25 January, 2012, at 1:03:28 pm
... I had been thinking about revamping my OEM TurboTwist 17" wheels which had a bunch of nicks and scrapes due to their rolling over 215,000 miles.
So, last week I dismounted them, took the tires off, cleaned, prepped and painted the wheels in a darker color.

This is the final result.

I was trying to "match" the carbon fibre parts, more or less.

I then took the center caps and hand-colored the crests with Testor's Model Paint and a fine brush and finally finished with 4 coats of clear.

The one other thing I'll do (and I'll post some pictures) is to put a 1/4" orange pinstripe around the edge of gthe wheels to match the calipers.

BTW, if you didn't notice, my car has for the first time (except the OEM Michelins) does not have Kumhos.
When I went to order from TireRack they had the Kumhos on backorder, so I decided to "test" the Hankooks.

Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Nice job, Pedro! The quality looks great and you did a good job matching the CF. Looking forward to seeing the added pinstripe.
Very Cool Pedro! *NM*

My 17 year old did something on his 2000 BMW 323ci. I was very proud of the prep work and effort between coats and amazed at the results.

I'm too much of a chicken!

Wheels look great Pedro. Have you contemplated painting or vinyl wraping the windshield surround a similar color, I bet that would look pretty good too.
quick MSPaint shop...
