Secondary air injection. Is this a diy fix, I have no idea where to start.

Start by reading this web page, it will give you a flow chart of how to approach the problem diagnosis as well as dome diagrams of the parts involved.

It can be anything from a loose connection to the failure of a sensor to .... well read the article.

... more and more secondary air injection failures on the older 986s.
The easiest way to solve it is to reprogram the car as an RoW and then just remove the pump and it's plumbing.
It's a DIY project if you can have access to a PSTII for the reprogramming.

Started cold this morning and the pump is working as usual.

I'll clean the MAF and see if that helps.

It's the air pump, oxygen sensors and or cats.
