Thanks for posting these, Carlos. Some of us really wish we could have been there, but it's great to see some of the great cars.

Glad you like them. It's my first time to this event, it's as good or better as everyone says and the day was prefect (sorry about that).

... I was there from Wednesday and did not get the chance to go see the trucks on the Paddock.
The black Boxster "Boxilla" is very fast, turning laps at 2'32" consistently.
My best lap this time was 2' 44". I was running on a new compound and new PSS9s which I was trying to set up properly.
Happy Boxstering

Here's my (pictorial) story...
Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Monday, 6 February, 2012, at 11:00:36 am
... of the 48 Hours at Sebring, 2012.

I got there at noon on Wednesday but had to wait for the Indy cars to finish their tests.
By the way, I had NEVER experienced suck a bad track condition at Sebring as we did on Thursday.
The Indy cars laid down so much soft rubber that it looked as though the track had ben black-topped on some turns.
I removed a grapefruit-sized ball of rubber from the inside of each of my rear tires.
Wen braking into turn 7 I thought that my brakes were fading until I realized that I was just sliding into 7.

When I got there I immediately setup next to the Bert Smith Trailer.
It makes a great windbreaker for my tent and that would be my office for the next 4 days.

First we had to Tech-Inspect all of the DE cars and all of the non-Logbooked racecars.
This one really impressed me

It was the Isringhausen Porsche entry from Springfield, Ill.

and driven by none other than Randy Pobst who you can see here debriefing with his Tech Chief during the 90 minute Enduro.

Running at night is unbelievable.
Everything changes.
You need new visual cues as to where the braking point, turn-in point and track-out points are.
Here's a picture of my car during one of the night runs.

I guess I was too fast for the camera's shutter winking smiley

During Saturday night's dinner, our Sponsor and Speaker was none other than Kevin Buckler, principal at TRG (The Racers Group).

and then he came over to our table where Harvey was schmoozing him

Part of my responsibilities as Tech Chair for the event was making sure the weights were at or above of the Class requirements.
Here is a line made up of the first 3 places in each category

I thought this was whimsical

and I thought this was reminiscent of the Boxster in some way.
The new 911's engine bay. This is what you see when you open the rear deck:

To work on the engine you need to remove the rear bumper!

and on Sunday evening it was time to head back home

Another great 48 Hours at Sebring.
You should make it a point to join us at the 20th edition of the 48 Hours at Sebring Club Race next year 2013!
Happy Porsche-ing,
Pedro

Don't think that is Pobst in your pic....

Not sure who it is, but Pobst wears glasses and has shorter hair.

Here's a better photo of Randy

He had just taken his helmet off after 50 minutes of racing.
His face is still red and sweaty.
If you look closely at the balaclava on the helmet you can make out the name Pobst.

Here is a MotorTrend image of him:

I know it was him because I tech'ed his car and talked to him for a while.
We were also doing live video feed from his Cayman during the Enduro and I setup the camera in his car.

He was passing GT3RSRs with the Isringhausen Cayman.
It was really something worth watching.
Randy would get behind the faster cars and draft them down the back straight and at turn 17 would go tight and pass them, he'd get passed on the front straight, but after a few times he'd make it stick.
During the 2nd Caution Session, his team made a mistake and called him in as the 1st place car took the green flag (randy was then in 4th).
Because they made him come in right out of 17, he never took the green flag and the Scrutineers made him go down pit lane at slow speed to pit exit, then he had to go all the way around the track before he could stop for gas.
He lost a couple of laps and that was his race. That's what he was heatedly discussing with his team.

Happy Porscheing,
Pedro

Sure do like the contour of the new 911 rear quarter. To my eye, it maintains the Porsche identity while hinting at Aston Martin elegance.
great pic Carlos...my turn now
