The "tail light" and the "brake light" are the same? They simply get different voltages when the brakles are applied or something?

I see no brake light, but i see a #5007 tail light.

Or i see a #7506 "stop light" - maybe they mean stop = brake?

Tail = running light

Stop is what you are referring to as brake.

FWIW, buy the twin pack and replace opposing side at same time unless you know of some specific reason why this one failed prematurely.
Not only are they different

but the tail light bulbs are not as available as the brake light bulbs. I discovered this one night when one of my tail light bulbs burned out and none of the gas stations had a replacement bulb. I highly recommend carrying a couple spares.
Near as I can tell, it's not critical, just an aesthetic concern for a closer color temperature match. My local Autozone and Advance don't keep the 6W in stock, so if it's convenient, get them from a Porsche dealer, or perhaps a mail order house.
Wonderful. Shoudl have known :-) *NM*
