Best place to order plugs/tubes/seals?
Eric in Dallas - Friday, 29 June, 2012, at 8:37:52 pm
Once I get this alternator swapped out I'm going to do the plugs/tubes/seals.

ANy gotchas on plugs or with a lift is it all right there?
I used Suncoast in Sarasota

Good prices and closer to me than other sources. Nothing against the other sources, mind you.

The job is not bad and a lift is not necessary although it might make for a little less reaching.

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna
I did the tubes yesterday. Took about 3.5 hours but I had a couple of cigar breaks. smiling smiley

Had access to a lift and with the rear wheels and rear fender arch little liners off access was pretty good. 5 of 6 were weeping pretty good and number 1 was cracked. Plugs (46K) all looked great and I'm sure they would go 100K but I replaced them "while I was in there".
Used snap ring pliers to pull old tubes. Some were a little stuck - new tubes/seals popped right in (important to oil the new seals).
Old inner seals looked good but large outer seals had collapsed.

Ready for road trip.
I second that suggestion because...

although I've yet to order from Bert Smith, in the past with my '01, and just this week ordering things for the new car, Suncoast, while honest, nice people to deal with, are somewhat discombobulated when it comes to order processing and tracking. I also have gotten at least one wrong item from them back when.
