On-Off Switch for passenger airbag.
p-wagen - Sunday, 1 July, 2012, at 10:01:03 am
This question may have been covered in the past, but I couldn't find it in the archives. Is there an after market on-off switch that can be installed on my 1998 Boxster so that the passenger air bag can be turned off? The reason I ask, is at a civic club meeting last week, our guest speaker was a State Highway patrolman speaking on safety. One of his remarks was that on the passenger side the airbag should be turned off for younger children (I think the age was 12), AND for adults over 65. The stated rational was that older people tend to have more brittle bones and that spinal injuries can be more severe from the airbag than the accident itself.
Child Seat Deactivation Bar

A Child Seat Deactivator Bar must be installed, then the DME must be programmed to accept it. A Porsche dealer, or someone that owns a PIWIS or PST2 can do this. Not the Durametric.

Then one of these can be trimmed to fit in the buckle correctly.
