Comparing the 981 and 991 top finish
Guenter in Ontario - Wednesday, 11 July, 2012, at 9:03:35 am
While we were at the dealership last night, I took a couple of pictures to show the difference between the look of the 991 and 981 tops in the down position.

981 with the gaps showing. Hopefully, Porsche will find a way of covering up the gaps. The clamshell just seemed to cover things a bit better.

Here's the 991 (which still has a form of a clamshell). It just looks more finished.

The 991 design looks identical to the 997 design on my car - the side parts are little pieces that flip up and out of way so roof structure mechanism can raise lower. Seems like a heavy and expensive way to cover that spot.
Minus 40 degrees... Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius?

For $40,000 less I can live with some gaps!

I'm sure Porsche could fill those gaps for a lot less than $40,000.

If you like the color, you should see it in the sunlight. My wife, however, calls it Cubbie Blue. You can take the girl out of Chicago, but you can't take Chicago out of the girl.
True dat, except for one small point

What's one bad century when the earth is millions of years old? Drop in the bucket.
Not in my lifetime...but back in 1933.

Since I don't drive in the city canyons, I doubt that anyone but me would see those "gaps". It is, after all, a ragtop. Why add other junk to cover things that don't need covering? I doubt that those gaps are there when the top is up.
