I just took the whole assembly apart and you can't adjust the tension. The tension is actually provided within the visor and not in the mount as I thought. I popped out the vanity light assembly and you would have to remove the vinyl covering to get at the axle by stretching, and I think doing damage. Forget it.

I ended up adding friction, though that was so long ago I don't remember exactly how. It wouldn't be beyond me to put some rubber cement or other glue in there and then break the glue after it sets.
and being careful not to get it in the hinges, which would ruin their friction.

Minus 40 degrees... Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius?
