Long story short i had my spoiler off the remove bumper to install hitch.

Instructions will be up eventually, although the pics i took are fuzzy. Darn.

When i re-installed the spoiler on the pistons that raise and lower it, i bound up - made awful noises and jammed.

So i loosened the attaching hex nuts, ran it up and down, and re-tightened it. 99% of problem solved, some small rub at the bottom, might be one of the sheet metal screw anchor spring thingys (that's a technical term). Not concerned i don't think.

IS there any BTDT or a procedure to align this properly? I hate abusing precise machinery.

If I recall correctly (and this was a long time ago), if you reinstall the spoiler frame in the down position instead of up, it will be realigned correctly. Just reinstall the spoiler in the lowered position, and when that's done raise the spoiler up and put the spoiler lid back on.
if memory serves me....

i originally torqued it DOWN, it ground, and then i did the "up down loose" thing, and finally re-torqued it after that, UP.

I did nto see the procedure specified in Bentley, might need to read again, or pull out the (old model) factory manual i have parts of.
